Ge Xinyi is an absolute delight to watch in this role. She is what made this show unforgettable. I've always liked her since Youth with You 2, but I had no idea she would be such a fantastic actress. This role was perfect for her and she embodied it flawlessly. I fell for her so fast. I didn't stand a chance.
This was suuuuper cute yet hot and steamy at the same time whew, so short but so good!!! I absolutely adored these two together and the story was wonderful ❤️
I have Shen's and Wen's love theme on a loop...https://open.spotify.com/track/5X6ZUTDcfEZusAAeZgMQnC
ah yes that is one of the best tracks for sure. I think my favorite might be this one cause it offsets some of the melancholic beauty of the rest of the album perfectly and puts me in a good mood. The beauty of the journey is in the highs and the lows, the contrast between the dark days and the sunny ones, and how tears can be wiped away to be replaced by a radiant smile.
Airs January 9! Everybody go request to get it licensed on Viki so we can watch it with good subtitles as soon as possible! You can put in a request here:
LOL.. same.. I also watched this because of Yuan Bing Yan.. and some Bai Shu :)
YES he was good too! It's always fun to see actors work together in multiple dramas. I laughed when Shu Jingrong's shifu showed up and he was the same actor as Xuanji's father in Love and Redemption. He Zhonghua is in practically every costume drama and they're both signed under H&R Century Pictures so it's not surprising lol. I think he's been in nearly all of her other dramas too. Bai Shu is also with H&R. But seriously I CANNOT get enough of Yuan Bingyan I need her in more main roles ASAP!!!
I think the best part of this drama is the gorgeous OST. So many epic and exquisite instrumental tracks filled to the brim with emotion. I've been listening to it every day for weeks ever since I finished the drama. The full soundtrack album is on Spotify which really helps!
Another historical drama with Peng Xiao Ran as the leading actress? Sign me up! The more the merrier! She was made for historical dramas and historical dramas were made for her. Just give her all the main roles, she's got the talent for it!
I mean they had always planned the main romance to be Sang Sang and Ning Que (though I also find that weird? Like…
I also only watched Ever Night for more Yuan Bingyan after I finished Love and Redemption. She became one of my favorite actresses after that, and Love and Redemption is now one of my all-time favorite shows.
I really loved her character in Ever Night too. Mo Shan Shan is so smart, kind, pretty, mature, and powerful. So at least I did enjoy watching her scenes the most even if I hated the way her part of the story ended.

I know but I feel like they took things a little far with Mo Shan Shan being such a sincere and likeable character who really loved him but didn't force it, then him being the one to practically beg her to come back with him to Tang, only to break her heart out of the blue after giving her every indication that he wanted to be with her forever. Like I really hated him for doing that to her.
I'm wondering what should I watch first is it the director's cut or the other one? Can somebody tell me? ;0
You don't even need to watch the original just watch the director's cut. The director's cut has everything that's in the original plus 3 extra episodes worth of scenes that were cut out of the original. You can watch it on Viki.
Viki is the best place to watch it. If it's not available in your region you can use a VPN and connect to the US or any other country where it is available. Then you'll be able to stream it.
If I wanna watch this drama should I watch this version instead of the original one?
Yes. As far as I know the original had a lot of important scenes cut out in the beginning and the end. I didn't watch the original only the director's cut, but I can't imagine missing out on a single scene.
