My favourite scene of today's episode: The arrow scene in his residence.
That was the aura of a queen. It's such a stark contrast to the queen mother's commanding aura that always seems to be laced with fear. Sure, it's partly naïveté due to the lack of exposure to palace intrigues that the queen mother doesn't have. But still, I love it!

What if Yian's brother liked Yirang and insisted to marry her even though he knew her family was trouble? And that's why Yian grabbed his collar, because he was angry and desperate that his brother chose a path he knew was likely to not end well for him?

Though in this specific case I have a tiny shred of understanding for the father. His wife literally died the the moment our poor FL arrived. It's much easier to blame someone else than himself. Which is what he's doing. He's a coward. Not that it makes it any better what he's been doing to our girl all these years, though... He can kindly get off my screen.

i found her cringy act (that got some critique during the first few eps) very well placed actually. It's her shield, her mask, her coping mechanism. By now we can clearly see that she only uses it when she feels scared, insecure, embarrassed, or wants to come across as unbothered and above it all. It fits her character very well.

Hah! That's also an option, I guess. Or maybe the previous king actually liked her for some unfathomable reason...

Also, my spidy senses are telling me that grand prince I-an had a first love. My guess is, either it was the current queen mother, that the two of them were in love but the king then (pressured buy the queen mother's father) had her marry the crown prince, I-an's brother instead.

Or, the queen mother had (and still has) feelings for I-an but he's had a crush on Huiju since their high school days.

The scene from his brother's wedding would make more sense with the former. But seing how I-an reacts to Huiju lets me hope for the later.

We'll see...

Ok, I skipped forward quite a bit during the first episodes because those uni scenes were hard to watch. But did I understand this right? Lin Yusen was on his way to meet Xigua for the first time - sort of a like a blind date arranged by his friend (and from the looks of it, Xigua actually had no idea she was going to meet him). On his way there he got into an accident (that had nothing to do with Xigua) and injured his hand, which ended his surgeon career. An now he blames Xigua for it?!? Seriously???

Or it was actually her modern self in the past all along. Then she ofc didn't remember, since she hadn't experienced it in her personal timeline yet. And when she kills Hongye at the end, she's actually taking his premordial spirit to bring it to the present. Maybe?
