If you watch one of the latest interviews posted, the actor for HC was asked whether HC has feelings for XJ and he answered definitely, but HC isn't self-aware and it's mixed up with a whole lot of other emotions. He also said when discussing with the director, they purposely avoided leaving clues that would show that HC definitely has feelings for her, that they want viewers to finish watching and wonder if HC really had feelings for her.
