I think the drama showed the kissing part as a symbolism maybe because in the novel she simply went in his soul manor without knowing that holding and patching his soul would mean their soul getting entangled. So at the same time she was patching his soul the same time she realizes what that truly means. It was kind of unintentional merging. In the novel the part that she realizes what it meant is probably equal to the part in the drama showing the kisses. But then anyways in the novel it was implied that the merging happens in the soul mansion only not in the physical world. And even when SJ wakes up they cultivation again in the soul manor.

The dual cultivation it is like getting freaky. Lol.. so yes they're getting freaky but spiritually. It's called cultivation because the benefit is gaining more spiritual power or advancement. That's y that time the fire teased FL saying "she came back with some benefits ". . It's different and more advanced from the physical one because here is like their souls are merging. Which means their entangled forever.

It actually happens before the demon realm arc. Probably in the next few episodes since the drama is going faster than the novel. That is if they decide to include that scene in the drama.
