The Netflix subtitles for this show are trash, at least the German ones. For instance, they constantly translate the year Showa 61 as 1968 instead of 1986. And many translations for on-screen texts are missing. Fansubbers Wabi-Sabi Subs and earthcolors are doing a much, much better job than Netflix.

You know, I'm an old bloke and I have to be careful every now and then with all my little prejudices that have developed over time, for example towards young actors like Michieda Shunsuke. It's so easy to underestimate them, which is totally unfair, I know. In these moments, it's good for me to remember a line from Taylor Swift's song 'Cardigan': "When you are young, they assume you know nothing ." And I don't want to be "they."

Yes, I agree, this series is a little gem. It’s getting better and better with each episode. And I sincerely apologize to all of Michieda Shunsuke's fans I may have offended the other day. He is doing a very good job and I really appreciate his (and all the others’) acting. Before the show started I was skeptical about whether the chemistry between Hirose Alice and him would work due to their age gap, but that’s exactly what this drama is about: the lives Sayako and Taku have lead already, their different experiences and how differently they deal with challenges and situations in relation to their age. That’s what makes this drama so interesting. And while Sayako, given her age, is not always as mature as we assume, Taku is not that innocent newbie you might think either. I think this drama has some surprises in store in the next episodes...
