Boring, repetitive, way too long, and according to this drama, everyone in Korea is brain-dead. This was a poor mans Flower of Evil.
The ML has like 50 lines, half of which are him saying "sorry" for something he didn't do.
The kids and their part of the story was more entertaining than everything else that followed IMO. Unfortunately, even this plays itself out because you see the same flashbacks about 100x.
Is it worth watching? There was so many mixed reviews and comments I put it off, but im back again checking it…
It's one of my favorites from 2021. I'd definitely give it a shot, but we all have our own opinions.
I think I enjoyed it moreso for the comedy than the romance. The kissing scenes were kind of the typical eyes open, dead fish. I did like both the ML and FL in it though, and thought they were great together otherwise.
i feel like you're rather hoping for a lovey dovey romance based on how ep 2 was your fave. but this was never…
I also gave it an 8/10. The plot pacing and story direction is an absolute mess.
EP 1-11 gave off romcom vibes (which is the majority of the drama)
EP 12-16 was like watching grass grow, except they throw in ridiculous time lapses. "7 years later." Oh hey the crown prince! Err...he's dead already. Oh well! They seriously couldn't dedicate some of that time to their son?
Any time the FL lost someone, they got a few minutes of screen time, died off-screen, and then never got mentioned again. Meanwhile, we got about 2 entire episodes dedicated to the ML's traitorous friend. All I could think was π«πΆπ΄π΅ π₯πͺπ¦ π’π―π₯ π¨π° π’πΈπ’πΊ π’ππ³π¦π’π₯πΊ.
The kiddos did an amazing job at the beginning. They made me care about the characters pretty much right away.
I liked the drama for the most part, but I kind of got bored near the last few episodes and I think the whole story kind of fell apart in favor of plot armor and tropes.
On EP31 and I really don't like any of the characters in this drama other than Zhuoying and Zheliu. I was liking the drama quite a bit, but the characters are getting worse for me.
Jianming is a walking CDrama trope. I'm so sick of this type of character. I'm the best in the world at literally everything! WOOOo! Emotion? What's that? Why would I treat my wounds? I should let them fester and let them kill me, because that's the ML thing to do. Add in hypocrite too for the final nail in the coffin.
Haishi has no depth at all, everything is shifu this, shifu that. I was enjoying the drama a lot more when she left to defend against invaders. I did like the sibling dynamic with Zhuoying.
The emperor was an interesting character until they turned him into a sadistic rapist and there's no forgiving that. Any lovey dovey scene with him and Shurong just makes me cringe now.
Shurong is just a useless punching bag with Stockholme syndrome.
This drama has such a low rating and yet I liked it quite a bit. I originally wanted to watch it because of Kim So Hyun, but I actually liked Yoon So Hee's character more. The FL's character couldn't be more generic.
It felt nice to watch a Chinese fantasy drama that for once didn't have 18 million love triangles and evil/jealous plotting women at every corner. The comment section makes it sound like the worst drama ever, but I enjoyed it quite a bit.
Just finished watching this and I gotta say... Xu Kai knocked this one out of the park!
I was pleasantly surprised by Xu Kai in this drama. I didn't care for him or his voice actor too much in The Legends, but I liked him in Ancient Love Poetry.
Can someone tell me if Yuemi gets reincarnated? :(
I wish. I really missed her character throughout the drama. Apparently it's impossible to create a decent female character that isn't a main love interest to someone. All women must be jealous and unlikable witches.
What's the difference between the 60episode and the 63episode versions?
The 60 episode DVD version just had longer episodes, but fewer of them. For example episode 11 is about 5 minutes longer in the 60 episode version. Episode 12 about 3 minutes longer...etc.
I remember there being editing issues in the 63 episode version, so maybe that's why they changed it for the DVD release.
I watched it on WeTv, in episode 60 it tells the marriage of Jin Mi and Xu Feng while in episodes 61 and 62 it…
She was reborn as a human, but she was trying to cultivate into a demon. Xu Feng showed up and mentions giving her 6,000 years worth of spiritual energy for marriage, so in the end Jin Mi turned into an immortal again. Also, Qing Tian says Xu Feng might need to save her from other immortals if she gets abducted..not exactly something a human can do. Then you have jin Mi mentioning she could sense an immortal nearby, yet another thing humans can't do.
I heard in the novel that they lived in the demon realm and not the mortal realm, but don't take my word for it as I haven't personally read it.
Well, it was too childish and immature for my taste. I liked the start a lot and before Jiu Chen came to find…
Ugh I feel the same way..I was really enjoying this drama up until around episode 36. (on 44 now).
The biggest problem for me is that they've turned the ML into another Ronald McRapeface like in Love Better Than Immortality. The ML has spent the last 8 episodes lying, jealous, controlling, and frankly kind of abusive. Nothing quite caps it off like a forced kissing scene to make the FL shut up, and if that doesn't work, just knock her out! Dunno how much longer I can stand it.
If the childish immortals and ML's behavior wasn't bad enough, now it's like Oprah Winfrey is running around giving everyone love triangles instead of cars.
Then you have the whole overused "fate" mumbo jumbo. If I punch you in the face, it's fate, and if you block the punch, it's going against fate. Makes no sense considering they admit they don't know what an immortals fate is.
Why is the main villain some random nobody from heaven, and why does she get rewarded every time she farts? Murdering a bunch of immortals in heaven or plotting the downfall of two High Gods = a slap on the wrist for her. They should've introduced a different villain because at this point shes just dragging the story down as some unbelievable cartoon villain.
My favorite OST ever in a drama. Already a heart wrenching drama, the music amplified the feelings 10x times more.…
A couple of the songs in the drama were actually sung by the actors/actresses and it's one of the only xianxia dramas where the leads did their own voice acting. (random infos if you didn't know already)
Love Frost - Yang Zi Unparalleled In the World - Yang Zi and Deng Lun
Unsullied female version - Sa Ding Ding (woman that controls mortal's story/life) Upwards to the Moon - Sa Ding Ding

I loved the first 30 or so episodes. The rest honestly felt like fillers.

Now the ML just got a sword that looks like it was made from LEGO blocks.
My top 3 worst ML characters.
#1: ML from Love Better Than Immortality
#2: ML from Love and Destiny
#3: A distant 3rd compared to the other two, but the ML from Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart
What do they all have in common? Forced kissing scenes where the FL obviously doesn't want to be kissed. Where I'm from, that's sexual assault.
Edit: Checked EP1 and it's definitely her.
