Enjoyed reading your thorough review. Like you, I also felt betrayed with the after 5 years time gap~ how I wish the creators stuck with the novel and just cut down the arc of LJT and Wanji if they had time constraints. I love the director but I read that he directed majority action films, and this being his first historical romance genre. I did not feel that he needed to waste more time on the action scenes since we have already seen plenty with the war, revenge arc, hostage of CSS , the bandit scenes , ML interrogation of suspects etc.. But the creative team ultimately forgot the theme of CSS journey~ to complete her character development from a fearful teen to a confident, capable adult that can forgive and reciprocate LBY’s love and together these 2 ppl with broken childhood will become whole again. The last 5 eps could have just been dedicated with emotionally charged scenarios about LBY trying to win her back, get married and have babies. What a wasted talent and unparalled chemistry of WL and ZLS. These two amazing actors undoubtedly could have pulled off the best emotionally charged scenes and made this epic drama and the best cdrama of all time…but still enjoyable 👏 9/10
It would be really nice if 3 of them gets the award , but WL should be locked and if he doesn’t get it I am going to cry. And if ZLS gets it, I am going to throw a party 🎉 🍷 hehehe
Just finished, my honest opinion :1) Part 1 was perfect and set the bar too high for me and Part 2 didn't live…
Really appreciate your honest opinion. You spoke what’s on my thoughts. Part 1 was very enjoyable esp with CSS cunning and tricky vengeance. It had perfect balance of intelligent storytelling and good humor. And ofc LBY swoon worthy expressions of his admiration for CSS. Thus, I was looking fwd to even better part 2 but … 😢
