An age gap of 12 years is actually not that bad. I mean how many of the fans of actors such as Gong Yoo on MDL are actually in their 30s/ early 40s? Not a lot I guess. If you are 28, the age gap between GY and you would also be 12 years. I am pretty sure that no 28-year old Gong Yoo-fan would reject him based on his age if he is interested in you.
What rightfully bothers a lot of people is the fact that they are different stages of their life. Kim Yoo Jung looks like she is 13, but will have to act more mature than her real age of 20 for this role to make it not creepy. On the other hand, JCW has done an 180. He used to act in more mature roles when he was younger, but suddenly he wants to be a flower boy. If they were in more similar stages in their life (KYJ in her 30s and JCW in his 40s), the age gap would be less of a problem.
Tl;dr I do not think the age gap is the real problem, but more the difference in maturity/life stages they are in.
Pretty sure that the two head honchos will not sign up for another season, unless Netflix paid them Hollywood…
I am pretty sure SBS learnt their lesson. And if I were Netflix, I would not pour more money in it either. To be fair, the international popularity of The King is not because of its quality... It is because of Lee Min Ho. If LMH would be in a low-budget dog shit drama, they would still achieve the same ratings. So why spend another 25 million on this average story. I would rather spent that amount of money in hiring 4 or 5 stars. Imagine if you have Kim Soo Hyun, Lee Min Ho, Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin in a show. The script might be as boring as reading the dictionary out aloud, but the starpower will create more buzz than TKEM did. So why spent it on all kinds of fancy CGI and KES, whilst the major attraction of the show is half-ass fan service from LMH. So give the fans what they actually want... Which is not another season of The King, but more of LMH.
there's really no need for a 2nd season unless they want more ppl money.. for one thing the ending was wrapped…
Pretty sure that the two head honchos will not sign up for another season, unless Netflix paid them Hollywood money. If this drama was only badly viewed, but critically acclaimed such as Arthdal Chronicles, they might have considered it. But this drama did more bad things to the reputation of Kim Eun Sook and Lee Min Ho as a serious writer/actor than Scar did to Mufasa in the Lion King. I also cannot see any superstar actor/actress willing to risk their reputation by replacing LMH. The only way I see a second season happening is with a very popular idol such as Suzy, Yoona, V, Jisoo from BP or someone of the same fame, because the other cast members are not popular enough to carry a second season.
This drama looks very heavy, but it is produced by Studio Dragon and TVN - a conveyor belt factory of corny, sloppy-written kdramas. I also see that Story TV is involved. The last time these three worked together, they produced a shit show in the form of About Time. To convince Kim Soo Hyun, Seo Ye Ji and Oh Jung Se to appear in this show, the writer must have outdone herself and delivered a world class script. No one in their right mind will blindly accept an offer for a drama by the companies behind About Time.
Currently i'm thinking of dropping this i'm at the 6th episode and i didn't like dongbeak's mother i think it…
You will learn to love the mother. This show has a heavy emphasis on character development. When you finish the series, you will understand how heartwarming the story is. When The Camellia Blooms is one of the most beautiful stories written in kdrama. The fancy name of the show is literally the plot. It is about the trajectory of Dongbaek and how she brightens up, like a flower/camellia that "blooms". The ending is also bomb. This is one of the few dramas on MDL, where I think the rating is too low.
Omooo, so it's confirm then, the curly ramen chicken head girl is Lee Tae Ri!!!!They had the same white bag!!…
Yes! But I have the feeling that the loveline will be between TR and Yoon Soo, because they share quite personal and intimate scenes. I also think they will hook YC up with Ms Tak in some way.
Also, what YC did in the latest episode is essentially what the oxbone soup guy accused MS of? - YC is trying to copy recipes of others. Only MS is a bit scummier, as he took the recipe of a person he knew/friend. But they made MS look worse in the initial episodes by accusing him of also stealing the recipe book. But I think that is mere speculation of the oxbone guy.
By the way, they did our boy YS dirty. He is more of a main role than Ms Tak, whilst Ms Tak is qualified as a main role and YS as a supporting role. We have seen the most development around YS's character, outside YC and MS. His screen time is about equal to TR.
Way to go, TKEM! Stellar performance in Netflix as of June 7:#1 in 8 countries, including South KoreaTop 10 in…
I am gonna try to be like the anchorman of the debates between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. He asked Hillary/Donald to name a good quality of their opponent. Both struggled with that question. It was one of the best question throughout the debate, because it showed their true colors and feelings.
Since you are a die-hard fan, I will ask you the opposite question. Can you name things that you do not like about TKEM? I am talking specifically about the show (so do not say the amount of haters or something)... Would be interesting to hear your thoughts, because I am thinking about watching it. But I always hear 100% positive feedback from the fans, but hardly any negatives. Whilst the comments here are overwhelming negative, but waived away by many fans as "haters", "antis" or people with a "lack of intelligence". But if you name the same flaws as the "haters", then there might some truth to their comments. Anyways... I look forward to your answer!
why the rating's so low? Is it that bad? I wanted to watch something funny, but i don't know anymore, is this…
It is very funny, but there are serious undertones. Especially in episode 1. But that episode let's you understand the dynamics between the two male leads. If you get passed that episode, it is one of the wittiest show in kdrama. It is currently also the most popular Wednesday-Thursday kdrama, which says a lot. It is broadcasted on MBC, which normally has the lowest ratings across cable and public channels...
