agreed about "too much past life dramas" especially with historical context, but it's cool , didn't u find it ?...well idk how correctly characterize but I like type of drama such as #abyss or #doomaturcervice...I watched few other fantasy dramas but these ones are special for me and I didn't found similar to them ! also cool was alchemy of soul and "island" guess , with ChaEunWoo

personally I found this remake on Do Bong Soon much interesting than first one. yeap the plot forcing different lines at the beginning what make u don't understand the logic on all that but at 3 ep all kinda becomes clear ..it's truly comedy detective instead of DoBongSoo , which was more melodrama ..so for detective lovers this series will seem interesting.
