As it turned out, there was a bride swap and the substitute bride is Ye Zhi Hong whom Qing yu loves. He tried to protect Ms.Ye and was shot instead.

I’m only guessing, but I think this to suggest Qingyu is torn between his feelings for Ms. Ye and his decision to continue with the marriage to Fang Mu Lan. I am also grasping at straws with the convoluted plot. Please feel free to share your take.

The novel says that she is a time-traveller from the future. There are little tell tale signs in the drama, if you look hard enough.it doesn’t seem to contribute much to the main story..
