It took a few eps and I was slow to open up emotionally to it, but once the characters grew on me, they did it big. I am glad I kept going and ended up rating it 9,5. I loved so many of the characters and actors. It definitely wasn't a waste of time, even though it wasn't a drama that left me on the edge of my seat like some have done in the past. It was funny, warmhearted, sad at times and very nostalgic. I love the lessons one can learn from this. It was refreshing for me, because too often dramas that I see getting hyped up end up disappointing me as I can be rather picky.
I like Hwarang. I think if you had any ideas of what it would be like... forget them before watching it. Don't…
It's exactly what I've been expecting of it though. :P Haha!
But I guess there's a truth in your words. Elsewhere I saw someone being very disappointed after episode one, for it not having met their expectations. (Though ep 2 was more like it according to them.)
For me personally, after having seen 3 eps (as far is it's been currently aired), it's exactly what I thought it would be. :) I can't wait to see more! But I also agree with you on the comedy. I didn't expect as much of it originally, but after having seen the special, I had adjusted my expectations on it a little. xD I feel like there is just the right amount of comedy. Any more would have taken away from the more serious happenings that currently balance things out well. :)
All my expectations were met during this first episode - even though I couldn't understand 90% of what was being said. I am very much in love with the music I heard and the sense of humor I've seen. Also love how they show the sets and backgrounds, which are all gorgeous to look at. The cast did well introducing their characters in this episode. I was really enjoying myself!
Sorry, I didn't see your comment before cause I didn't get notified!
I can definitely recommend this drama as it is a good drama. It's very typical chaebol/poor girl and the evil in-laws, but I really enjoyed the acting and there is plenty of different emotions going on through the episodes. ^^
Just steel your heart for possible second-lead syndrome. Because as much as I love Hongki.. it was unavoidable, haha!
I'm really looking forward to watching this drama! I've seen so many promising things already. As soon as it finishes airing I know I'll binge watch it to death. >3<~
SIG is one of my favorites as is the drama Master's Sun (because I crush on So Ji Sub!). But if you like Park…
I've heard about it but I'm still a bit unsure about The Reply series. I heard that it's a slow building story and I'm usually not really patient when it comes to waiting for a story to pick up a little.
Currently watching it together with a friend. The leads are amazing cute together and the in-game scenes are GORGEOUS. The friendships between the people in real life is also a joy to watch. <3
This drama wasn't meant for me I guess. I can't say it's a bad one, cause it is absolutely not. The actors deliver a great performance. (And I really loved Rain here, especially during the serious scenes (coughandtheabscough.) But the drama just didn't grab hold of my attention and didn't make me want to click on a next episode. I did laugh a lot during several scenes, which I don't easily do, so I got to give credit for those scenes. (Which always involved the two male leads.)
But I can see why people love it so and decided to give it a rating of 7/10 despite me dropping it. ^^~
Episode 6 was the last episode I watched. Having gotten so far I felt bad about dropping it, but seeing your review helps me make up my mind. I agree with all you stated so I think watching 10 more hours would waste my time for sure. I loved Rain's acting (and abs, lol) when he was playing serious moments, but overall it was all too over the top for me.
Your review leads me to really consider if I'll give this show a watch yes or no, because of Jung Kyung. I never really watched the american shows you mentioned, so that's making me hesitate.
I just finished Falling For Innocence, which I noticed you have finished yourself as well. Would you say this drama is better than FFI or comparable?
Reading more of the negative comments I think I'll end up dropping this drama after all. I'm 2 episodes in, but…
@Major - I think you helped make me feel less guilty about the thought of dropping it. Nothing wrong with being honest, I appreciate your .02 very much! I'm glad with the 2 hours of kitchen crew I've seen, but I'll spare myself the rest of the episodes then. I rather spend that same time trying to find a drama more up my alley. ^^ Thanks for the input!
Reading more of the negative comments I think I'll end up dropping this drama after all. I'm 2 episodes in, but I just can't stand the ghost girl. (She was fine the first 10 minutes, but after 2 hours I'm just done with her.) I loved the possible chemistry between Na Bong and Kang, but with how much screen time Miss Ghost is getting.. I don't have the endurance to see it through to the end myself. (Especially not when I read how little she's likely to get..)
I did however, really enjoy the kitchen crew. I love the casting of this drama. That's why I regret having to drop it. But as much as I love the cast and some moments, the lack of connection/amount of boredom I feel outweighs it. I guess it's not a drama for me.
With your review in mind, I started watching this drama. I thank you that I was warned for the screaming of the female lead. XD I absolutely agree with all you stated above. This drama is a masterpiece and that acting! Omg! Thank you for having written this review that helped me make up my mind.
You put into words perfectly what I cannot.
(Now, I'm going to mourn having finished this drama. T_T)
I gave a shot to this drama, because the comments and the plot was so promising, but now I'm really dissapointed.…
I have watched 5 episodes, but I haven't been able to feel attached to the story myself yet. It's not the lack of romance, it's not because of there being any bad acting nor is the plot a bad one... but somehow it still didn't grip me. =/
I am really curious and like Lee Jong Suk and Kim Woo Bin.. but overal, I felt bored watching those 5 episodes. I guess it's just not the drama for me either? Though I kind of hate to admit that.
I started this drama a while ago because of Lee Jong Suk. (No surprise there I guess. Great actor, knows to pick his roles.) However, I kinda ended up stalling it after 6 episodes. Now I'm a bit lost on what to do. I love LJS and his acting here as well, but is this drama just slow in gripping me, or is this specific story just not working for me personally?
The story isn't bad. Acting isn't bad. But somehow I find myself struggling. Anyone else perhaps who experiences this same problem?
I kinda feel bad when I think about dropping it, so I do want to give it another try at some point. (Either by rewatch or continuing) .. But at this moment I'm just feeling a bit lost about how to feel. I guess the thought of it maybe not being my kind of thing makes me sad?
I don't really have someone with similar taste yet to discuss these things with, so i'm just throwing it out here for now. Maybe I'm not alone in this feeling.
Well, that didn't last long: 14 days after giving this a 10/10, Healer forced me to lower it to a 9.5/10. Hardly…
I'm almost done watching Healer and I've had to adjust some ratings because of it myself as well. I was scrolling through the comments here and was amused to find yours because of that.
This is by far the best drama I currently know of. The soundtrack fitted every scene beautifully. (It pulled me…
@BeautifulSwan
I stumbled across Signal yesterday! But now with your recc, I will add it to my PTW list as well. I hadn't actually thought about checking the writers. So far I've mostly been looking at pictures, story and general opinion of people, haha! But that is a good idea. I'll make sure to do so! <3

@ Eiyhin
I added both your suggestions to my PTW list. :) Thank you!
I don't think Healer will be knocked down from the #1 fav spot it currently holds for me. I'm kinda hoping that the few people I know who watch Kdrama as well, will give this one a shot. I'm sure I will end up watching this one again in the future myself! :)

So much talent. (So many eye candy.. haha!)
