A+ Bromance, D- Romance
This had the potential to be really good, but got bogged down by the annoying romance storyline with Dr. Cha and his ex-girlfriend (and the exact same cut scenes of their relationship ten years ago...). I adored the bromance between Dr. Cha and Seung-Tak, and the ghost storyline and medical storylines were both very good, but I couldn't make it through any more of the romance. That aside, the villains were pretty 1-D and didn't add much to the story. So, I dropped this at episode 12.TLDR:
+ bromance and acting of two male leads
- poorly done romance
- underutilized female leads
+ ghost/medical storylines

Super Fun
I ended up really enjoying this show! It balanced romance, comedy, and demon catching well throughout its 32 episodes. While the acting was a bit stiff at times, the actors grew into their roles and eventually became quite endearing to me. The show grabbed me with its innovative plot and hilarious exchanges between the characters, but I grew quite attached to everyone and was very invested in the plot by the end of the show.**SPOILERS**
Shoutout to Ziqi's parents' storyline for being extra heart wrenching. The ending was slightly more open-ended that I expected, but I don't mind it. I wish there was a bit more closure for Mu Yao and Liu Fu Yi in the aftermath, though (at least for the viewers). I loved the layering of different characters in the show with Mu Sheng and Miao Miao and the messaging about needing to fully love and accept yourself to love someone else 100%. It was very sweet.

Amazing!
I adored this drama! The actress for the female lead did a phenomenal job, the comedy was always on point, and the character development for Cheoljung was very well done too. I loved Court Lady Choi, Hong Yeon, and even the curmudgeon cook and Soyong's dad. The pacing and development of the story - including the palace drama, romance, and Soyong/Bong Hwan identity aspects - were very well executed. I was deeply invested in every part of the drama, and the OST and other pieces of recurring music helped set the scene nicely. I thought that Uibin's character also had an interesting development arc - she almost went down the path of vengeful villainess, but then she saved herself. It was a nice change from cliches, which is a general theme in this incredible drama. As I said, I ADORED it. 10/10 recommend and will be rewatching!!Was this review helpful to you?
