Well said! I know dramas usually point out how the war affects the people, but here is another level. We saw some characters growth (like the gossiper granny and magistrate's daughter), we saw every kind of people, butchers-which people hated, tailors, nobles, officials, housewives, widows, orphans, and we feel sad for all of them. Song Yan doesn't know his mother died; the 4 guys of Changyu's squad doesn't know their family probably died; Mr. Zhao has no idea his wife almost died. And so on. War affects everyone, they don't care about whether they're rich or poor, war affects the living. And this is so sad. They were so happy, even with their bickerings. What a masterpiece from Zeng Qing Jie👏
