Off topic question here.I wonder... there's a lot of slapping scenes in the dramas. Is it a cultural thing? Is…
a few days ago an interesting article "Cultural shocks I experienced while watching dramas" was posted on MDL. Lots of comments for that article share these questions. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit I replayed Min Hwan getting slapped 3 times. Maybe I vicariously acted out my aggression towards someone who treated me badly in the past.

Thanks so much for this incredible novella! I'm sitting around resting (ugh) healing my broken arm. This exposee on my favorite piece of clothing really livened up the morning.
I'm wearing my hoodie now, but only on one arm!

Thank you so much for the time and energy you put into this article. I enjoyed it very much. Reading it made me happy.
A couple mentions reminded me of years ago when I was puzzled by "I like you". (wait, what? I thought he loved her) Hello Auntie, Uncle, Brother, Granny. (dear Lord. how many people are in that family?) Oppa, I had sex with you because we were drunk so no one is to blame. (OMG, alcoholism AND incest! ) I considered drama more than guilty entertainment. It was truly learning about other cultures.
The culture I sincerely don't understand is the Narcissist with nothing to do. I don't understand why such self declared superior people have nothing better to do than criticize writers who are sharing observations and starting dialogues. There are many of these arrogant individuals. Why can't they just converse in their own small world?
Articles expressing positive views and asking questions, all without judgement or hate, are how healthy humans communicate. I am so grateful for all the writers on MDL who point out what I might have missed or express a view I hadn't even considered.
People who know it all naturally do not believe they have anything left to learn. I personally don't care about the criticisms or judgements of those so insecure they must attack others. If anyone is too erudite for MDL perhaps they should go elsewhere. I for one won't miss them.
I know this doesn't seem cool to declare, but I'm going to write it anyway. Aehsassy writes with the intention of helping to make the world better. Hate comments make the world more sad and scary. I'm looking forward to many more mornings reading MDL contributors like Aehsussy.

huh, so no vampires then. I was expecting vampires from the title and LSH's presence. Silly me.
expecting or hoping? as for me, praying. the writer is silly, not you.

Thank you so much!!! I can waste so much time and energy searching for Horror I like. Your articles save me hours. I probably have about a year more usable time in my life thanks to MDL generous and dedicated writers. Recommendations from viewers who aren't accepting pay or freebies are the best. MDL writers don't have loyalty to any group or business as do many reviewers in mainstream media.
I especially appreciate the review for each film. Personally, I'm not too impressed with gore. A spirit or mythical entity however, fascinates me. Films I don't care for are certainly equally valid choices but I don't have the time or eye health to watch everything.
It's disappointing to clear some time, make a snack, get comfy, then realize the movie I was so excited about is a real stinker! So do I watch "til the end because I invested so much time choosing it? Or, do I search for another film, which will use up all my remaining time and may not be any better. I will make good use of this list. thanks again.

It is a condensed version of the show, fits it all into 20 episodes. They have also put in some new/different…
thanks for the info. that clears it up for me.

Though it's a movie not a drama, the saddest story I've ever watched from any country is "Grave of the Fireflies". It's animation but the children are just as real as any live action characters. The struggle of a boy and his sister trying to survive the horrors of war are too heartbreaking to not shed tears. I'm not a movie crier, at all, but I'll never be able to watch this again and I'll never forget it.
I believe every politician on Earth should be required to watch this film. This is a reminder that not only soldiers are hurt during a war.
This is a Studio Ghibli release so of course the art and music are top notch. But I think most people will remember only the children and the fact that Grave of the Fireflies is a true story.

I'm reminded of "Thirty but Seventeen" when Seo Ri crawled out of the hidden bookcase with her hair covering her face. I laughed so much I spilled my coffee.
I saw a bootleg copy of Ringu when it first was released. I've seen 2 or 3 of the other movies listed but I had no idea there are so many. Now I can watch them in order and maybe even make some sense out of all the variations. (probably during daylight hours)
You must have gotten so dizzy researching this article. I just sent you a psychic neck massage. This piece is fascinating and just plain fun ! Thank you.
My biggest scare from a vhs cassette was when I realized I'd spent $500 on a Beta player. Everyone under 50yo or not married to an electronics geek just ignore this last bit of trivia.

I've been too busy this year to check out the gazillion apps constantly released. Thank you SO MUCH for letting me know. Unfortunately I don't have drama loving friends to share drama news with me. Even my American Asian buddies prefer walking dead or GOT, etc. I appreciate the articles on MDL so very much. I have fellow drama lovers to update me and share news and opinions with. I guess maybe that's the whole idea of MDL so it's obvious but still, it's like a little treat for me every time I log in.
I've received so much help finding what I will enjoy watching and where to watch it. And especially from Ceki. thanks again .

Fun article, thanks. I've been amused recently watching the almost sensible cause and effect of Fang Leng's amnesia. (My girlfriend is an alien) I laughed when I first read the story line before it aired. After I watched his trauma it sort of makes sense. Well for a drama anyway.
My favorite amnesia victim has to be Lee Gun in Fated to Love You. His new wife was always just on the edge of his memory. All the little reminders were sweet and all the snail scenes were hilarious.

hey NN! I just read this article for at least the third time. I come back and check it (and the comments) when I need a ridiculous drama. I'm so glad you took the time to write it. also, just wondering.....did anyone else think the evil princess in Princess Hours looked like a character from a John Waters movie?

Fast as lightning and just as bright! I have more time to watch when I spend less time to research. You and Abzzski are 2 of my favorite people. I hope your Autumn is beautiful and your birthday is fun.
