Nothing I said has anything to do with age. I wasn't even talking about the actors, I was talking about crazy fans

@TLBJunkie - I agree, I'm just worried that posting videos such as these will make people that do ship the actors act more crazy. Because in their head, this will be proof that the actors are "meant to be" or something.

Ship the CHARACTERS, not the ACTORS. Their love is only on camera.

That's the case for every romance drama that doesn't have many romance scenes until quite late. There wasn't much to comment about

Li Changge is supposed to look like a girly male when cross dressed as per the manhua.
You keep writing that bulls all over here, but I read the manhua. She was not too pretty. Ashina just called her feminine because of her ACTIONS sometimes, like being weak, in pain or shy. He was very surprised to see that she is actually pretty when she dresses up as a woman.

And she definitely did not wear lipstick when dressing as a boy. You can see multiple women with makeup, like Mimi. But Changge was was not wearing any, because she's not stupid.

What you see in other dramas doesn't matter at all. There is no other men in The Long Ballad that wears lipstick. In the universe they set up, men don't wear it. So it's very aggravating that they made the choice to prioritize making Dilraba beautiful over accuracy to their own world.

Feminine men still don't wear lipstick.

I've read the manhua as well, and can vouch for the fact that the drama adaptation is a lot faithful to major…
Are you saying you're not concerned that they used 20% of the drama to tell less than 3% of the story?

By the time the Shou province arc is over, there won't be many episodes left. And that was when the manhua STARTED to get interesting.

I've only read the translation and only seen 4 eps..but I feel like the show is doing a better job at actually…
I am not chinese, so I have also only read the translated manhua, but the translations were very good.

The drama hasn't reached Shou province yet, so it may very well still be a bit unbelievable how the governor acts.

She was a bit of a Mary Sue in the manhua, yes. But she is so in the show as well. I'd argue she is MORE of a Mary Sue in the drama.

In the manhua, she is intelligent and knows what she can and cannot do. She knows how to get allies that have skills she doesn't. She is not good at fighting and has to put a lot of effort in to get to a level good enough to defend herself (and afterwards says she never wants to fight again). She is stoic/doesn't show many emotions. She is no good at anything women usually learn in the palace. Not everyone just falls in love with her.

In the drama, she is shown to be good at military strategies during the sports game. Apart from that, it really depends on the scene. Sometimes she will be smart, sometimes she will act dumb, it's inconsistent. We are TOLD she is smart, but we see her making mistakes all the time (not because other people are smarter, but because she just reacts stupidly). She is good at fighting. She openly shows her emotions. We know she sewed a talisman, so she's at least good at one thing "women-task." Multiple people fall in love with her.

So I think that her character in the drama is a bit inconsistent, and more of a Mary Sue

If they stick to the Manhua 100%, the Chinese government will NEVER allow to air. You probably should STOP watching…
And about Wu: I have looked at other works with him. He does not always make such a face. I am not blaming him for it, since it is the screenwriter's and director's decision how he appears in a scene. I'm sure he's a good actor.
And why would I not watch a drama just because I don't like the male lead? If that is why you watch dramas (to fawn over sexy men), then that's fine. But I (and many other people) don't, and wouldn't avoid watching dramas just because of who stars in them.

They could have cut the Uyghur stuff and it would have been allowed to air. They did not have to change the rest, but they did. That wouldn't be a problem, if the changes made it better. But they made it worse. That's the problem.

I never expected it to be 100% accurate and it doesn't have to be. But if you make a change, it has to either be neccessary (censorship), make sense, or be an improvement. Otherwise, what's the point of making an adaptation?

There's always people like you, saying: "If you don't like it, don't watch it".
Do you expect people to not share their opinions if they're not positive? Then what are ratings even for?
Is it not helpful for other manhua readers to go into the drama knowing it is not a faithful adaptation, and that they musn't expect too much? Otherwise, they will get much more disappointed.

People like you are never content with any criticism. Wanna hear something positive instead?
I'm glad Zhao Lusi can finally act a character that isn't all happy-go-lucky, maybe she can stop being typecasted. Dilraba's performance here is very good (the screenwriter and director just changed the character to be different from the manhua). The budget seems good, nice outfits, and the opening and ending song are very beautiful.

Title The Long Ballad Spoiler
And there's another point, but that has spoilers, so I'm going to write it in another comment. It's about the…
In the drama, Li Shimin (Changge's uncle) is presented as her mentor and somewhat kind, not wanting her to die. They also seem to hint that there is a reason why he rebelled. Changge's mother also told her not to be resentful.

Nothing of this is in the manhua. And yet, in the manhua, she forgives him, or at least gives up on the idea of revenge because overthrowing the government again would be very bad for the country. She found her peace with never getting revenge. That was a very strong and impressive message.

But when she gives up on revenge in the drama, that message will be SO MUCH weaker, because her uncle 1) had some reason 2) is kind and 3) because Changge's mother told her not to hate.

On The Long Ballad Apr 2, 2021
Guess I'm the only on that is unhappy with The Long Ballad (and I wasn't even expecting much to begin with, as most adaptations are trash).

As a manhua reader, thse characters are NOTHING like they were written, and there is SO MUCH new content that they are still stuck in the same city after 20% of the drama is over, while they only adapted 2 (!!! lol) chapters out of over 60 (even though the manhua was never even finished!).
How will they have the time to rush through the rest of the content, if they are even planning on following the manhua at all?

The terribly overdone face filter is annoying too, and that they dubbed the voices, and that Dilraba always has lipstick on, and that Wu always makes a face as if he smelled stinky cheese (to try and look older/more serious).
And from what I can tell right now, it seems they will cut out the origin stories of the main characters, since it has to do with Uyghur and turkic tribe stuff.

Revenge plot was kinda predictable but the first four episodes were really really good. Also Zhao lusi is so so…
If it follows the manhua, it really isn't a revenge story, it just appears to be

I've always hated Erniang from the get-go with her stuck up attitude and her condescending attitude towards ShiYi.…
Trying to get her sister to marry the known playboy is really not that bad, no. Compare that to literal forced abortion, murder, kidnapping (basically setting up rape) from the Concubine.

No one deserves to be in an abusive marriage, how dare you say that! And the stuff she did wasn't even that bad.

Have you ever read the original manhua?
If 61 chapters aren't enough for 50 episodes, then maybe don't make the drama 50 episodes LOL.
And what's this about being negative, I said "could".
You were acting as if the drama is guaranteed to be good because the manhua is. It's not guaranteed at all.

Well, the novel that Legend of Fei was based on was apparently not full of plot holes, they were created because the story was changed so much in the drama.
The same could happen to The Long Ballad. They are adding so many characters and changing the story a lot, it might be terrible afterwards.
