This is just a hunch, but in the end of s1 we see that Lee Rang is reincarnated or at least a kid that resembles him. In S2 Lee Yeon starts working for Grandma again in exchange for Rang’s reincarnation. So Lee Yeon is just working towards that scene we saw in S1.

I want to defend this drama so bad, but the last ep is so confusing like wtf. It's all very last minute and not fun to watch at all.

this drama is enjoyable in the mind-numbing way. but the way everthing plays out does get frustrating. like him killing off Kim Dal to gain back his powers, but isn't that an even bigger sin than falling in love 💀

Besides that, half of Korea is religious so using your logic, how does that equate to it being "rude"? If you don't like the romanticization of religious figures in pop-media then avoid it. There are other hundreds of other tropes out there that will not offend you.
