LOL I agree face swaps are ridiculous although I liked A Familiar Stranger. For the QSCK book(s) - or at least in this one it was transmigration so it was that XFF's soul entered JL's body. Yeah they changed it in the drama - cuz she was known in the capital too in the book but she often hid her talents because her horrible in laws and husband. In the capital she was known as the top beauty. ML had said she had no substance in an offhand comment.

IIRC for the book, like in the flashback when FL first saw ML she was wearing a veil - cuz her trash @$$ husband was insecure so if she ever went out she wore a veil. (Also cuz she got too much attention generally as the "most beautiful/talented woman in the capital.) So not many people got to see her normally. Although agree at the banquet people would/should've recognized her. Just suspend your disbelief here I guess.

Do you mean the animated thing? Or the actors actually filmed something? I've seen the animated thing but unless/until it's the actors I don't think it's "official." I'm definitely counting the animated ending as the "actual" ending in my head though :P

I heard Starry Love they actually filed a real ending and it was supposed to be released as an extra (paid?) episode - don't know if it actually happened though.
I think the the fact that HQ woke up and called ZXW's name means she was ready to face life with him by her side (we *know* he won't abandon her, and what she wanted was someone who would love her unconditionally...) but I agree viewers were definitely cheated - I'm so irritated so much screen time was given to MY and ZYL. All of that could/should've been given to HQ and ZXW interacting in their "ever after."

I agree - wish they had spent the time on what you said, instead of wasting all that screen time on MY and ZYL. (That made me so mad.)

I'm rewatching E30 and ... honestly that's almost my only complaint. Yes of course I'd like to see sweet scenes between HQ and ZXW, but mostly I'm seriously irritated so much screen time was given to MY and ZYL.

I saw that in the comments - I didn't take the time to try to read the letter in the drama. My comprehension is too poor/it would've been too pathetic on my part, so I appreciate someone posting what it said. I think HQ suspects too, as you said her asking about it.

HQ and ZXW do know each other so well (other than him ... at first possibly still misunderstanding that HQ doesn't have romantic feelings for HRZ...) it's just they so far only have a tragic love story/can't be together. I'm curious as to how it'll end - I wish it was longer than 30 episodes.

And in E28 we see ZXW's mother explain to HQ why ZXW *has* to be the head of family. I think in part HQ doesn't trust ZXW's affections will remain steadfast, but even more it's that she doesn't want to live in a place where she'll have to worry about scheming, or be someone who is trapped in her own home. As the wife of a noble lord she basically can't leave - can't go out, etc. That's what she tried to explain to ZXW using MY as her example.

I kinda had that thought about ZXW and HRZ too - considering he tells his secret guards they can't kill him. I think HQ's new neighbor may very well be a secret bodyguard ZXW sent as well.

I hope for a satisfying ending but have been bracing myself for a BE. "HQ's song" doesn't give me much hope for a HE. Nor ML and FL's interviews together and what they said about the story.

No, that's not what I meant.
What I meant was re: the Meng family - ZXW told HQ he'd handle it, but she didn't trust him to, and she thought he was just going to let Miss Meng get away with it. Instead he was working to take power away from the family that wouldn't undermine his own position. But HQ didn't know that was happening.
I don't know if I "expect" her to have said anything or not but HQ knew ZXW thought she was romantically interested in HRZ when she wasn't - unfortunately that misunderstanding also led to his rash actions and their last mess of an encounter.
Then also between ZXW and his mother - I don't know if she knows what's going on with the Meng family, so possibly she thinks ZXW has just lost his mind and is taking power away from one of his main [butlers] just for HQ, instead of him actually cutting off a "coup."

Considering how little we saw of ZXW I don't know that people can really say they'd know how he'd have reacted. Like ... if he knew HQ like(d) him too ... but their situations truly made the relationship impossible ... would he have let go knowing she had actually considered him but still more preferred leaving the city ... or would he have doubled down even more (although 😅 not sure "more" was even possible...).

... And ugh. I'm so irritated seeing all those lovey scenes between ZYL and MY.
