howβs the romance? good chemistry? Iβm seeing a lot of edits for the sCP but not for the main CP
They're both great! Very different from each other, which I personally love. Main CPs' dynamic is gentle and sweet with a surprising bit of angst, which overall makes it very heart-tugging; whereas SCPs' is charged and intense, with an edge of danger that makes it really exciting. Both have very good chemistry and have managed to thoroughly engage me.
We've been waiting so long for YQ's story and now π Did not expect it to affect me this much. Hanya Si at the end really broke me. I see him sacrificing himself at the end for YWS as atonement for failing to do so with YQ.
I'm obsessed with what a nuanced performance Lu Yuxiao is giving. She manages to pack her scenes with a myriad of emotions fitting to her complex character, making it almost impossible to tell what she's truly thinking and thus keeping you on edge, but somehow still subtly exposing layers of a very conflicting, damaged, and deceivingly callous girl.. with a warring humanity that time will only tell if she'll set loose. Big fan. I hope to see her as lead more often in future dramas.
ik YWS is most likely acting the part in her being "weak" and inferior to SGQ but it really does hit my nerves…
Saaame, was so annoyed about that, especially as she was potentially making an enemy of Jin Fan. I need to get to the part where YWS says "fck you" and truly goes head to head against SGQ. Now that will be bloody.
Also I agree the Gong sister is too over the top with her antics and quirks, itβs almost like sheβs part of…
I agree that she's behaving as such as a way of defiance to sort of break from her family's oppression, and I love that. I think that her character could be a pretty rich contributor to the whole plot, I just personally don't like JJ's portrayal particularly of that helpless/wayward personna, as it feels too overdone. That said, we're only 4 eps in, so it'd be interesting to see where she takes this and how she continues playing her in the future.

I do think she can offer something in terms of wits and just chooses to do as she wants since she doesn't have any real responsibility. However, if that is the case, then I hope they soon give us that, because I am also tired of her antics lol It's cool and at times necessary to have someone be a comedic relief in a darker series, but she's just too much. It comes accross as very try-hard and honestly sort of ruins the pace of the drama.
Shangguan and Shangjue are the most interesting characters to me so far given how complex and morally grey they…
Agreed! I do like though that ZLH and YSX's characters offer almost a complete opposite of that. It'll be nice to have those contrasting moods and dynamics.
I'm really excited to see what the dynamic between Shangguan and Shangjue will be like; they both have seemingly amoral characters, so it will be a vicious game of witting give and take for sure. Would love if it would end up being a sort of hate to budding love dynamic.
The sister is a bit too much for me right now π Bordering on cringe at times rather than funny. Hopefully the helpless jiejie personna is toned down a bit and we can see how she truly is.
Rooting for my murderous girls π€ͺ Can't wait to see their humanity tested even further, and how they will navigate through their new realities.
I'm really astounded as to how good this is. I mean, I expected it to be good, but the fact that it has had me glued and on edge since the very beginning is pretty rare. It's tightly ploted and fast paced without leaving any loose bolts, and it's hard to come accross a Wuxia that deliberately (and effectively) chooses to have that rhythm. It doesn't lose time with its characters either, giving them enough breath to show us their intentions and make us root for them amongst the frenzy.
The director is making very bold yet very smart choices, and it's making the drama stand out in a very positive way. The cinematography is of great quality, and combined with a sharp choreography, simple yet tasteful costume design, a talented cast, a rich storyline, an unrelenting pace, and some very clever shots, this has the potential of becoming a classic.
Now, I think the most pleasant surprise for me has been Zhang Linghe. I have seen his previous work and though he was good, he never stood out as great to me. However, he is completely embodying the role of Gong Ziyu here and has been a real joy to watch. As Ziyu, he has a beseeching and yearning demeanor that simply pulls you toward him; the epitome of a loverboy.
Regarding Yu Shuxin, I had no doubts that she'd be wonderful. She has the potential to take the cdrama world by storm, and I'm totally here for it. I particularly like that this is a somber and darker role than her previous ones, as it will give her the chance to explore and expand her range, and show just how much she is capable of.
Loving the chemistry and dynamic so far.
This is definitely a drama that stands out among the myriad of wuxia dramas we get a year, and I'm very excited to see the direction that it takes in future episodes.
So well shot and acted though ugh, they really had me π
"No. But there is one in my heart. You have the key. Are you willing to unlock it?"

The sudden ANGST π©
Loving the softness and pureness of these two.
Miss Weishan... let's see how you get out of this one.

One ep per day somehow still seems so little π©
PS: That slap was iconic.
