One thing I never understood was the term catfish in dating programs- i pulled this definition from namuwiki!! "In a mating variety show , the male and female contestants who appear later are called catfish. This nickname was given because they act like catfish that cause big waves in calm waters."

I'm not sure if you're still waiting for a response, but here is my summary of the ending: Two main characters…
I understood differently, one of the last things he said to her was "you're my woman that i want to protect until the end of the world" but she left because she knew people were targeting her and being with her would put him at risk. I don't think the boat was alluding to her going back to the gisaeng, considering boat is the fastest way to travel south.

Question, if there was a house, Hyeri? Could live after all?
there was nothing that suggested Hyeri lived there, the house looked abandoned (but I do think the writers will bring her back somehow)

That is very true..Before said she wont get sick again..Then after living in woods came to realizing she is happy…
I wonder if she will ever bring this up to her psychiatrist, because this is an example of extreme dependance . There are only 2 episodes left and I reeeeeeally hope the writers don't take the predictable route- he is either relieved of his responsibility (by some traumatic event or grandma tells him to go) OR he opens up to eunho about their concerns and they get married. I really want her to talk this through with her doctor and learn happiness that doesnt depend on someone else! And I really want her to want better for herself, I can see her forgiving Hyunoh for what he did but only after she's able to really tell him herself how much she was hurt and he acknowledges it as something that hurt her.

I understand her mentality of remembering when she felt happy (especially considering her abandonment wounds) and I get wanting to thank him and she probably kept thinking about how good they were together? But I really am shocked that she took him back, seemingly without any real interrogation about why they broke up

Watched the latest ep and it had me thinking if this is what DID really like aside from having 2 persona coz it…
DID can present itself in multiple different ways, I think she's doing a good job but I've never met a client with as drastic vocal changes as hers loll (which I think is exaggerated on purpose to help viewers)

EH needs to sue that psychiatrist for malpractice. She doesn't have DID. She has depression with dissociative…
(I'm obtaining my clinical license atm so I’m so glad for an opportunity to learn/discuss through kdramas) I agree that she was already experiencing depression and she probably decompensated even more after the breakup due to feeling abandoned/triggered. She then consciously decided to explore Hyeri's writings and live out her life as an attempt to be "happy," but once she starts losing memories of being either identity, I would think she meets the criteria for DID as it requires “the presence of two or more distinct personality states” as well as “discontinuity in sense of self and sense of agency, accompanied by related alterations in affect, behavior, consciousness, memory, perception, cognition, and/or sensory-motor functioning." (DSM-5). Which the actress is doing a really good job at acting out, the mannerisms and preferences and personalities are completely different. This is especially noticeable when Eunho tries to pretend to be Hyeri. She can’t do the voice correctly and she never wears her hair the way Hyeri does. Now, in the latest episode I think Eunho has finally realized and accepted that she’s experiencing DID beyond her control, and because of life events she is curious about the happiness Hyeri experiences (we see this when she’s comparing their journal entries)
I can't find anything in the DSM about depression with dissociative tendencies, but I do know that derealization can be associated with it, and while Eunho definitely does experience that I think her hallucinations have moved beyond being classified as a mood disorder because of her memory loss and Hyeri’s vocalized possessiveness over their body. I would love to hear more of your thoughts if you disagree!

I disagree that Eunho got better when Hyunoh left after the panic attack, I think he was staying with her until she got better because he obv wants to be there for her and in his mind tbh nursing her back to health isn't promising a future together but it's as close as he's allowing himself to get :( I think the writers really want us to pity him because they were showing his subtle reactions whenever she showed signs of getting better, almost like he knew their time was coming to an end because she was stable again

And I agree that Hyunoh is who caused Eunho's wounds BUT the writers gave him what they want us to consider an excuse that is "good enough." I think it's possible for the 2 of them to heal together if he doesn't trigger her abandonment wound again and gives her a real explanation of why he acted the way he did. (everyone will obv respond differently but her character specifically i think they could write it this way)

am i the only one who can't understand Hyeon o's logic? i mean what do you want from having a relationship with…
The explination that he can't bring someone else to take care of his family doesn't really make sense because they have the finances to afford things like home aids in case they need physical assistance so I really think there is something we haven't learned from him yet.(And the obvious answer is hes embarassed so I don't think that is it) He said he can't date Eunho because she wants marriage and he can't give that to her, and he was preventing his little brother from dating her so I wonder if his motivation was again to prevent her from marrying into that household(because his brother isn't bound by the same deal).

So in the rain scene, we saw him sitting conflicted in his car thinking about how he cares about her but he can't get married (and we know hes firm but still have no idea why) so what he asked her was "You are alone right now and it seems like you could use some help like this occasionally, I know we can't be together but can I be the one to take care of you when you need it?" In his mind hes not promising her forever or a relationship but he gets to make sure shes okay and push back their separation (that already happened, but she got sick and they got to pretend like it didn't until she felt better). If the writers are going this far I assume he is hiding something huuuuge like does she have a childhood secret attached to that household? Did his grandma cause the death of her sister? Does he secretly hate his grandma and he doesn't want eunho to be around her? I'm excited to see how everything unfolds

Ep 5-6 ramblings-

I really want to see more of Hyeonoh's thoughts and feelings towards his grandmothers, especially the one that took him in because of their relationship when they first met. The way he stared at her in the hospital bed unable to speak makes me wonder did he have something else going on that we havent seen yet? One way I could see the writers take this is making him feel guilty for resenting his family, maybe before the funeral scene? I could understand if he had thoughts about not wanting to take care of them because he wanted to get married and then losing a grandmother could make him scared to consider it again?(What if he was planning on leaving the family after breaking up to go back to EH and she passed away chasing him or something?) Another scene pushing me towards this is when he got the call that his Grandmother was hurt, I want to know what was going through his head because he seemed frozen, then all he said was "I'm leaving" before running out? I'm not sure if the writers wanted to build suspense for his run back but the language choice was really dismissive, not appropriate for a situation where they were about to leave together!! He seemed frozen as soon as he heard she was in the hospital, When Eunho was yelling about the pork belly place it seemed like he barely registered what she was saying? So he might have started to panic at the thought of his Grandma being hurt, and that could be why he didn't think to give Eunho a proper goodbye until he saw the necklace, which made him hesitate leaving and ask her to be with him in the only way he feels like he deserves.
-The rain in this scene is a nice touch, in psychiatry rain is often associated with feeling stressed or overwhelmed and having him standing outside getting rained on(that started right before he opened the door) emphasized just how desperate he was to be with her, the writers were trying to protray him as this guy who is alone, struggling, and in enough pain to ask her to be in pain as well if it meant they could be together.

And all of episode 5 was acted out so well... Eunho kept waking up and we haven't seen what happened in the 12 hours she slept (and HO never showed real concern about her sleeping so long which suggests to me she wasn't actually sleeping!!) and what happened after the kiss!! The first time she woke up, when they were eating together and she started asking what happened he seemed like he was trying to hide something so what if the kiss triggered Hyeri into coming out? And why wouldnt he tell her?

I really loved Shin Hyesun's portrayal of Eunho's perspective. She questioned HO the first 2 mornings and after he barged into her house the end of the second day, she started putting effort into getting used to being with him like this. The third morning he woke her up and pushed her outside of her house so he could clean it for her, which seemed chaotic but it made her feel reassured and she seemed like she wasn't pretending with him anymore throughout the day. tHE fourth morning!!!!! The first thing she said after waking up was his name!!!!! his name!!!! And you could see her start to panic when she thought he left, we already know the last time she felt abandonded by him it really hurt her mental health and she probably understands that as well. She seemed to want to brush past how she felt to not shatter the moment, until he left for real and she was fully brought back to the last time. The phrase in front of Eunho when HO asked her implied she knew she would be abandoned by him again and she considered. She looked at him and her eyes welled up with tears but none of them fell and she refused to join him in the rain :( the parallel after she closed the door of her hoping he would come inside and really be with her, and him hoping she would join him in the rain was really painfully beautiful they both want to be together so bad but she decided not to get hurt again, and he decided he can't choose her over his family :( When she walked away after her expression went back to the face Eunho usually has at work, which I think was supposed to show us the holiday is over and she's back to how we first met her :(

Beautiful beautiful beautiful writing beautiful beautiful acting. I wish i wasn't enjoying the ML's performance as much as I am because I used to be such a big fan of his ;;;;;;;;;;;

There is a really important mistranslation in ep 10!! in the car Ina's mom never said it was Ina's fault she said "하필 그날 니가 태어나 버리는 일 바람에" which is like "out of all the days this happened on the day/while you were born" and then Ina asks her mom "Was me being born a bad thing?" and then mom turns around because she didn't want Ina to understand her words that way!!

I ended up fast fowarding through the last 6 episodes ;;;;; JJS displayed some of his best acting and his role was written wonderfully.... but the rest of the show was not ;;; characters with developments that didn't make sense, the plot line that was supposed to carry through the show... didn't? And then reappeared like they remembered they need to finish it? SSK I really adore I do but she can't play evil/sly and thats okay!! her 6fd role where she was responsible and dependable felt a lot more natural but this one she kept trying to look cunning/sly but I don't thinks he pulled it off sadly. But to her defense I'm not sure any fl would have been able to save her role, no ambition no goal just "I have a crush" "actually i have a revenge to pay" "actually no I don't and I will wait until the writers throw in a random plot twist to give my character something to do" dsjfndsfjds im upset because this could have been a really great show

I think DJ is currently fighting with his resolve to not get back together with DH. The latest episode im wondering if the writers waited until a tense moment to do the "X Date" thing because it definitely made the moment more entertaining. But DJ's behavior is obviously "jealousy wrapped as calling her behavior not polite" like the hosts called it, hes so upset about Changjin and its making him say things in a rude way+he doesn't want to open himself to the idea of reconciliation BUT he still obviously has feelings/is not used to seeing DH date others (which is completely understandable after 13 years).

Im frustrated with the way his shaking resolve is coming out as hurting DH, I am frustrated with his holding onto this resolve despite cracking and texting her and showing jealousy and confusing her. (I understand the shaking resolve and I wish the 2 of them didnt come onto this show tbh). BUT I also empathize with how hard it is to protect his decision (and i really hope its a decision and not a lot of pride, signed a taurus) and i do hope he is able to do what he needs to do to be happy, while also doing his best to not hurt DH.

The foreshadowing was done SO SO SO SO well!! I kept trying to figure out why i kept seeing a pattern (ill name…
But the foreshadowing- you kept seeing the number 4 (4 people, 4 pillars behind this character) and in the end when he died he got stabbed 4 times AND the 4th time was when Bae Doonas comrade stuck the letter that she wrote on him saying their organization will hunt down those that exploit and harm others because/through capitalism and that is EXACTLY what happened!!!!

Every time I watch a Park Chanwook film I have to remind myself that he doesn't include anything unnecessarily, every single thing visible to the audience has meaning and will be important later aghhhhh i am going to think about this film for a long time

The foreshadowing was done SO SO SO SO well!! I kept trying to figure out why i kept seeing a pattern (ill name it in a spoiler comment) and then the ending happened and it made so much sense. The way Bae Doona's character and politics fit in was also really really good.

I also really enjoy Park Chanwooks commentaries on capitalism and the split of Joseon (jsa is a wonderful movie) and here it was so clever!! Bae Doona is supposed to be kinda crazy but shes so serious all the time about her radical beliefs, and the one time shes playing with a child shes singing what sounds like an innocent child playground song but its all about war and defeat the commies oh my godddd the way the movie makes you think
