For me.its the chemistry thats definitely lacking, both FL and ML are goodIve seen their other kdramas, HMH is…
I agree. The chemistry is lacking. I thought they had potential in the first few episodes, but things just dropped off and now that they are a couple they act even more distant. It's very strange with further diminishes any chance of building a believable rapport between the characters.
After episode 9, I watched others dramas more exciting to me. I don't know if I should continue this one. Is it…
Episodes 13 and 14 had suspense and drama. But honestly this show lost momentum after the leads got through their trust issues. It just kind meandered on with nothing happening. Considering how episode 14 ended, I don't know what they can add to the story. Though I can guess, but what I'm guessing is not anything that would warrant two more episodes.
It is unbelievable seeing how selfish Yo is and how much of a bum he is. Him lazying around the house drinking and eating junk food was just argh. How did Michi end up with a man who is all about his feelings with no consideration for the other party? I’m glad she told him just that, that he’s selfish, after hearing his reasons for rejecting the divorce was all about his feelings and what HE couldn’t accept.
Glad Michi realized she would not have the life she wanted with him and stood firm on divorcing him. Also glad she’s starting to think beyond her romantic relationships to focus on herself. I knew Kaede wasn’t going to get the Editor in Chief job. She was too sure of herself. And I think that’s the only reason why she agreed to divorce Makoto because she had her career to fall back on. I wonder if she’ll attempt to rekindle things with him now that the promotion she was sure she’d get fell through.
I kind of liked the way episode 10 ended with everyone divorced and even Michi cutting things off with Makoto. I think that would’ve been a good enough ending to the show. Don’t know what can possibly happen in episode 11 as I feel all the stories have run their course. There’s nothing more to explore with Yo and Kaede, at least nothing I’d be interested in seeing. Michi and Makoto could reunite but again that shouldn’t take an hour. I guess we’ll see what contrived plot twists will happen to stretch out the story.
I was a bit disappointed in episode 9. The show has become predictable the last few episodes. I do think Michi…
@Loelha great points! I’m not sure if I believe they’re in love either. I think Michi would’ve eventually divorced Yo. He would’ve confessed his infidelity no matter what and if Michi hadn’t cheated herself I think she may have left him at that point and never looked back. But being that she had cheated herself she gave him another chance.
Also, him not wanting kids would’ve eventually come out and I think that would’ve likely ended the marriage too. She may not have been running for the door as she is doing now but I think she would’ve eventually asked for a divorce.
I’m not sure about Makoto though. I think he would’ve continued on with the marriage until Kaede eventually left him. There was nothing hanging over the marriage like Michi’s marriage that would be a catalyst that would lead to divorce. I think Kaede would’ve eventually came to the realization that she favored her career over her marriage and asked Makoto for a divorce.
Regarding Michi and Makoto, I’m okay with them dating after their divorces. Taking their time and just dating to see where things go will give them time to explore their relationship and determine if they do have a connection beyond their failing marriages. Love or not, I don’t think they should jump into anything serious right away.
They're finally getting divorce before the last episode! Kampai! Banzai!
Yes. But I’m somewhat suspicious of Kaede’s compliance and of course from the previews we see Yo is going to try and fight the divorce. So I don’t think either will have a clear path to freedom.
Michi only spoke up for herself when Kaede scoffed and said "just because you don't have sex" as the reason for…
I agree. Michi was submissive towards Kaede and apologetic until the latter started essentially berating her. Saying that Makato pitied her, and that’s the only reason why he gave her the time of day and saying if she didn’t exist, in other words if she didn’t seduce her husband, he wouldn’t have cheated. The last straw was Kaede accusing Michi of cheating with Makato because she wanted sex. The irony of that was Michi and Makato has never had sex which Kaede doesn’t know. It was an emotional affair more than anything.
I can understand Kaede’s anger towards Michi. However, she completely absolved Makato of his actions. As her colleague said a woman who’s been cheated on should direct her anger at her husband not the mistress.
Like others, I’m tired of both of these couples. Even though they clearly see their marriages are in trouble they are continuing on with the status quo, failing to do anything to fight for their marriages. At this point, I don’t see either marriage realistically getting back on track by the end of the series. Thus both need to divorce.
I found the last scenes in episode 8 another dose of irony. Those who’d been withholding emotional and physical affection thought they could fix things by simply giving their partners sex, only to be rejected themselves. Both were upset and stunned by the rejection, which I found to be self-centered of them. You deny your spouse physical intimacy for years and think they’re just going to rollover and thank their lucky stars once you finally decide to have sex with them after all that time? I don’t think so. Neither Yo nor Kaede were offering sex for the right reasons. It was just a way to hold on to what they were obviously losing. And with Kaede it seemed as if she was offering sex as a reward to Makato for deciding to stay with her. Argh. SMH.
We like Makoto because he actually brings something valuable to the table. Yoichi, on the other hand, lacks motivation…
@bibi I agree with your comments. As I watched this latest episode I wondered what Michi sees in Yoichi? He has absolutely nothing going for him and is emotionally stunted. They don't seem to compliment each other personally or professionally. Perhaps she likes the quiet brooding type who is a "bad" boy. However, these types are for a good time, not for a life long commitment like marriage.
I don't read mangas, but I hope this series will address why he can't get it up with her but had no problem having sex with his colleague. I don't think Michi is eager to have a baby like Makato. So why is his (Yoichi) dick suddenly limp when it comes to her? Based on an earlier flashback it looked as if they had an active sex life at one time. So what happened?
Also, I didn't understand why she went back to him. She had an epiphany that he was "running away from her" because she was putting pressure on him about the lack of intimacy in their marriage for 2 years. Yet she seemed to not consider the fact that he had no problem being intimate with someone else. Again, I don't understand why the former thought would compel her to give him another chance. I hope this will be clarified.
Regarding Makato, I could understand his wife being career driven and thus wanting to put off starting a family, but that's what the pill and other various forms of BC are for. Withholding sex to prevent pregnancy is odd in this day and age with all the available BC methods. I wonder if there is more to her avoiding Makato than just a desire not to get pregnant.
I wish they didn't do the whole 'drunk girl is funny' thing so much and make the FL so pathetic. It ruined what…
I have to agree with this. The FL and the ML’s sister being alcoholics was a turnoff. As was the FL being so desperate for the ML to love her. All he had to do was say jump and she’d be asking how high and would be willing and ready to do whatever he asked.
I like angst, and drama , but it was too much of it in this. It was exhausting watching the FL cry for nearly the entire series over some heartbreak she’d suffered each episode. And don’t get me started on the brooding male lead. It was just too much. Though when the story was fleshed out it was discovered that the ML didn’t in fact ruin the FL’s previous relationship, the fact that she really didn’t care whether he ruined her engagement or not and still wanted to be with him after being angry for 5 minutes, made her seem even more pathetic and came off as ridiculous.
