Who is Hiiragi?
Ah, ok. I guess you know this from reading the manga, right? How much older is he? I mean, I don't want this whole show to be a frustrating exercise in guys who are chasing older guys who reject them.

It's already gotten frustrating to watch. On the one hand, I love the show and the characters. On the other hand, it's frustrating to watch, because I don't think it's a big deal for an 18 year old to date a 28 year old, especially when they have such great chemistry, which Shin and Minato do. And even more so, when it's the younger guy who's doing the chasing, not the older guy.

The 2 of them have every reason to date, so I am like, oh for god sake, just kiss already. I don't want 12 episodes of almost kisses and then Shin saying "No, you're too young," every time.

And now you are telling me that Asuka is going to fall for this guy Hiiragi, who is also older, which makes me think, shoot, it's going to be the same frustrating thing with Asuka and Hiiragi for the rest of the episodes.

On Minato's Laundromat Jul 21, 2022
When Minato stood up after falling on Shin in the laundromat, he had some dialogue, but then there was a line in parenthesis, as if it was something he was thinking to himself. It made no sense whatsoever. It said:

"Do not wash blankets or mattresses."

What the hell did that mean?

Thank you all so much for telling me to go back and watch AFTER the credits. Vegas lives!

But really, what is up with running a crucial plot point after the credits of a series' final episode? They did the same in "Follow My Sunshine" where we all thought the boyfriend died in a car accident. If you shut the show when the credits rolled that's how the show ended for you. You would have to stay until AFTER the credits to know it was just a dream. I'm sure many people still think that the character died in that show.

Wait a minute, did something happen at the end that I missed? I stopped it right before the credits cuz I thought it was over?

If he's alive I'll go back!

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

Title KinnPorsche Spoiler
Well, I guess we won't be getting that Pete/Vegas series I'd hoped for in the future. They just killed off the star. I'm sure there'll be a Kinn/Porsche sequel, but I won't watch it because their love story had wrapped up 2/3 into the season. It was just repetitious lovey-duvey scenes after that. I was here for Vegas/Pete after that.

Well, actually, I was here for Vegas. Vegas, man. I was all about Vegas. The one guy they freaking killed off! Ouch, that hurts.

He has already been legal for years.
Ok, so Minato is not afraid of Shin being illegal. Hence, I suppose it is more about what I had said in my original post about how Minato might think their life experiences are too different. But I can't help but think that Minato is fighting against his attraction a bit harder than he should.

Well I hope that at least this cutie pie classmate gets his man, because I have already heard from you guys who read the manga that Shin and Minato never hook up and I am kind of bummed that
this is going to be 12 eps when nobody actually falls in love. So maybe it will be worth it if at least the secondary characters fall in love.

Really? I know that the age of consent is 16 in most states in the USA (where I live), but not all states. In Japan, I read that it was 18.
But I also know that Japan has this odd thing called "Consent by Authority" whereby you can have sex as young as 13 if the parents give permission. It's supposedly some holdover law from years ago back when girls actually got married that young.

How did the rating drop so quickly. It was 8.6 yesterday wasn't it?
You're right! That's insane. This is why I do not trust MDL ratings at all.

Did you read this in the manga, or you just think so?

Can someone who's read the manga give me a spoiler and tell me if the adorable boy in Shin's class (who's clearly also gay), has a crush on Shin, or if he ends up having a crush on some other character who is introduced in the show later on?

I don't think the age gap is unethical. After all, Shin is 17 and if he has a bday soon, he'll be legal. Minato said he graduated 10 years ago, so he's only 27. They clearly have terrific social chemistry and physical attraction. So the only real problem is how hard it would be for a guy who's been working, paying bills, and running a business to relate to a kid whose biggest responsibility at this point is to study for a History test and turn in homework on time. lol

A MISSED OPPORTUNITY

Shin, the expert flirt, missed a prime opportunity when Minato had slammed that dryer door shut in a fit of jealousy and asked who the hell that girl was with whom Shin was holding hands at the beach.

I had fully expected Shin to respond by leaning in close to give that sexy smile, and purr, "What, baby, are you jealous?"

Agreed. Especially cuz they leaned in for a kiss. I'd have preferred that they not have that teaser almost-kiss, and just hugged. Teasers are frustrating.

I agree. But the way you phrased it, it seemed as if you were saying the hot guy was abusing the magic guy and not asking for consent before doing something against him. I must have misread. That is why I was so surprised.

I adore Cherry Magic! But what do you mean by your "concern over consent" in Cherry Magic? It is the most innocent show in the world. Heck, they don't even kiss.

Fair enough. I did my best to make my case. And you did your best to make your case. I suppose these things come down to personal interpretations, and varying views on politics, culture and aesthetics. I won't try to force another person to like a show if they simply do not. It's a futile endeavor so it would be silly for me to try, right?

But I am curious about one thing -- you said you are new to BL. May I ask which shows you've seen so far? And which you liked best?

Wow, thank you for being such a good sport! Because my reply to your post was pretty freaking sarcastic, lol.

As for the kiss before the confession, you asked me to enlighten you. Well, the best way to understand that is to re-watch the scene. Because if you do, you shall see that Nozue, the boss, actually returns the kiss. It's only slightly, but it's unmistakable that his lips are moving and, hence, he's returning that kiss. BOTH times. He's returning it slightly because he's in love with Togawa. But he's not returning it fully because he's confused, and needs time to process his feelings. I mean, Togawa has just dropped a bomb on him by confessing love. But in all fairness, Nozue, himself, has also just dropped a bomb.

Consider that he just told Togawa, "You are the only one who makes me glad I am alive." I mean, wow! That's tantamount to telling somebody that you are in love with them. If someone ever said to me, "Maggi, you are the only one who makes me glad I am alive," it would rock my world! God, I live to hear a man say something like that to me! Don't we all?

It sure as heck rocked Togawa's world. He's been in love with Nozue for years, and just learned that he's the ONLY one in the world who makes Nozue happy. So when Nozue tried to run away by making silly excuses like, "I gotta go home because I have a package coming. I have to tape a show. I have take a shower, etc, etc," Togawa stopped him, and planted a kiss on him. He felt he had a right to kiss him because he just learned, in no uncertain terms, how important he was to Nozue.

As I'd said, Nozue returned the kiss at first, just fleetingly. Then Nozue froze into a state of confusion. Whereupon Togawa regretted his action and collapsed into a puddle of insecurity and regret, and began to apologize and cry. You said that Togawa "forced" the kiss. But that's not accurate because Nozue was neither afraid nor angry about it and, to the contrary, he felt sorry for Togawa. He even extended his hand to comfort Togawa afterward, but then pulled it back. If you go back and re-watch, you'll see at the very end of the scene that Nozue reaches out and is about to pat Togawa's head to comfort him, but stops short.

So there was a lot going on in that scene. Oh, and if you are wondering why I noticed all of this, yep, I watched this particular scene 3 times. lol
