I think she was "forced" to do it. All of these actress and actor has a role to play in life and has to say things that can "to model" a way of thinking of people. With serious problems with births in Japan, it is expected that influential people like her give "the exemple". So, after start a family, you should stop to work to be "a model mother and housewife".

I also think its a great topic :) btw, after the last episode when we drama show Sakurai (if i'm not wrong), being left by the husband, I guess they will talk about it. He left her and the only thing that will support her (to live, I'm saying) is her job. But it's too early to everything. I'm keeping watching it to see where the story will lead us. And I think it was great when she started to go out with Ryu and has other guy telling "HE DOES NOT WANT TO MARRY YOU", because its exactly what you are saying: its not the key of hapiness. And even tough, she (until now) is choosing Ryu.

I think is about an idea of make women just come back home because of the background of Japan. Nowadays, it's really important to japanese people be interest in making family. So, I think this drama sends an idea about it, something like "just be a housewife". I'm not sure, but I guess the birth rates started to decrease when japanese women started to work. And it's a huge problem there. Because of this, I think that drama wants to sell good images about housewife way of life. You know, "I'm working now and its great, but when I get married, I will stay home and create e support a family".
