Don't watch it if u don't like his character.... Lol... They can't change his character for u..
Hi, didn't say I didn't like the character or that he should be changed to suit my whim. Infact in addition to the two main leads in flower of evil, he is one of my most enjoyed characters. Only said it would be refreshing to see him jump some hurdles in that regard. We would all get tired of seeing the same cycle of him easily waltzing through his problems over and over again. His wits is key and character development is always part of a good story.
Why this wonderful show with great cast and wonderful performances from the actors and great production did not get nominations for any awards beats my imagination. Maybe the time of the year it was released last year could be the reason or probably most awards are all about the popularity contests or fans fervour.
It is a light hearted drama and you would actually enjoy it if you don't take it seriously. The storyline is breadth of fresh air. Wondered what miracles a great budget and firmed story line would of done. Enjoyed most of it since I was in for the jolly ride
Hope in upcoming seasons Fan xian get punished for some of his reckless arrogance rather than allowing his usual charisma and whiz to win the day always
This is a great drama and had excellent acting I have seen much worse drama get better review and ratings. I think we need to maintain the integrity of review and ratings by giving praise where it is due and offering constructive criticism of dramas not only this one so the actors and production grow and give us excellent work that can compete on international levels. That said the only main flaw with this drama is the fact that the story dragged at a point. I think the should have cut down the episodes and made the schemes of the characters more elaborate and worthy of their wit. I have watched this drama several times and never get bored
One more thing, the innocence of the male lead was a real seller. He has a tendency to be villainous but you see his innocence shine when he entered his father's manor for the first time, when he beat Guo Baoko and when he speaks to Si Lili Lili about loving Li Waner on the way to Northern Qi, when makes fun at the little emperor pretending to try and step on his emporer's new clothes but didn't. When he sets up Wang Qian to take care of Xiao because he couldn't kick him out of the team
Hoping for more romance. Especially scene romantic scene similar to what is described in the novel between male lead and little emperor when they hit it off at Dongyi. Male lead is arrogant yet not self righteous and is also crafty and sly which is his main selling point. For the writer and actor to pull off such a character he must show great brilliance but balance it with his humanity so the viewer is able to identify with him or believe him. Also his arrogance should not come out as a lack of etiquette but rather as bravery and maturity in standing for what one believes. I was glad they brought in the humuor to make the character more interesting. For such a character being eccentric could also play a part. Maybe a combination of Tyrion Lannister and Tywin Lannister. Finally such character needs equally brilliant and manipulative side characters who are upto the task like Daenerys and Petyr Baelish. The winning point for this movie is it's humour as a result of the antics and wits of the characters so this should also play a key part in subsequent seasons. They shouldn't be silly characters. They should be sly and crafty. We should see the main lead have some character development whilst maintaining his wit and humour, he shouldn't have things easy all the time. And he shouldn't sink into despair when things are tough. He should mourn but maintain strength in the situation whilst strategising a counter attack like he did with the giant and the eldest princess. The characters in this series should not take themselves too seriously. They must be quirky eccentric and interesting to keep us glued. Hope the 2nd and 3rd season dont disappoint by forgetting that humour and craftiness was the heart of this series. But balance it with the romance and wuxia.

Liked him arrogant and fearless. The only time an arrogant male lead is not liked is if he is mediocre and arrogant. Or he is over the top arrogant with no fault at all or with no etiquette but this is not so with this male lead. Although admittedly more character development is needed here. The actor did a great job in his portrayal.
Well if the ML was as smart as he likes to claim, which BTW he constantly reminds the hapless people around him…
