I'm personally convinced that he really died at the end. I mean, he was shot in the heart, Jin Sook was wearing black and talking to a dead person, and Soo Min had an hallucination when she saw him. Plus seeing him as a child with Gyung Mi means that he is dead just like her...
I wish he was still alive though.
