You are right. Nowadays many C-Dramas are only focus on the physical appearances and romance only which are so boring seeing too many times over and over agian. No actual fighting scenes and weapons. They heavily lean on the CGI effects which make the weapons like a magical or god's blades. In 2014 version, when Miss Long fight with Golden Wheel Monk, she just flying over here and there without making actual Kung Fu and her long sash is like a magical flying weapon which comes alive like a snake. I think it is too ridiculous.

Just one question. When Miss Long fight, where all the long sashes suddenly came from? From her robe or just where? I thought her weapon is only a long sash with two golden bells hidden under her sleeves. In the older versions, the bells still insist but start from 2006 there are no bells at all. Did they changed or just for some amazing fighting scenes? I think it was started in 1998( Fann Wong Version), the numerous long sashes came out of her robe, but I like it LOL.
