Yeah about that regret comment i don't know if there's an error in translation but what he said was he once regretted not that he currently regrets and knowing movies that definitely meant something different from what we assume but yes you're right that did break her.
I think most people who hate on yuan qi/ gujin fail to understand (i would blame the drama more for not showing this sufficiently) is that although both characters have the same memories and slightly similar personalities they do not represent the same thing. Gujin is a lazy by choice and easy going immortal who is just lucky enough to be the third disciple of the leader of his sect, this puts him in a high esteem among other sect members and immortals but not so high enough that he bears any major responsibility and has to consider a lot before making any decision. He could love freely, hate freely, be partial to his friends even when he knows they are wrong without a care in the world and he did do all these he accepted Ajiu as his friend and treated him without any form of bias despite ajiu being annoying to him and being a demon, he had a crush on hua shu for 10 years and did a lot for her not because she's beautiful but because she helped him (In episode 1 when hua shu and her father first came in, gujin was also in the room but while all the other male immortals were basically drooling and gawking at her he didn't pay her any attention and was just eating without a care), he also became friends with yan shuang despite the fact that she was in conflict with the woman he likes cos he believed she was a good person, he accepted to be punished when he made a mistake instead of complaining and looking for excuses, he took care, protected and even came to realise his feeling for ayin and even broke multiple rules to defend, shelter and protect her when she was being accused during the finger bone incident and was willing to lay down his life for her at any time and even marked her which is what also protected her. That was gujin and he could do that because he wanted not because he had to or needed to but because he wanted to. GUJIN is a single individual and represents FREEDOM.

This is not just any immortal but a god - not just any god but a true god - not just any true god but a true god of chaos. He is above all and below none and at the same time he is equal to all. He is the embodiment of chaos- like an abstract concept coming to life like love , infinity, eternity, death , life etc. - from which the 3 realms and everything in it originates so it is his responsibility To make matters worse at this point he is like a general who survived at the expense of all his soldiers because of his decisions and he is buried in guilt and self blame wants to bring them justice. He cannot love freely because he cannot be partial to those he loves, he can't hate freely and decide to raze his enemies to the ground because he has to protect all things regardless of where their loyalties lie. He knew ayin and hong yi were innocent but technically they did commit a crime(destruction of daze mountain and aiding a criminal escape) so he had to try them according to the law and he knew hua shu was guilty but technically she didn't commit any crime(it was his order to remove ayin fairy bones) so he had to let her sit on the throne of her late fiance even though he doesnt like her. Besides he's seen the sacrifices his parents have made for the world and can't do things that would just destroy their legacy and sacrifices. That is yuan qi and he did all he did because he had to and needed to not because he wants to. YUAN QI is the world and represents RESPONSIBILITY
Dont misunderstand me ayin is the biggest victim here and is right to give him the cold shoulder for as long as she wants because he did kill her but we as viewers are not ayin we know both sides of the story so it seems a bit of an overreaction to hate him or say he doesn't deserve her when even ayin is going to forgive after knowing everything . In my opinion he really did suffer cos in less than a month time he went from intentionally breaking the heart of the woman he loves to almost losing her and then losing his entire clan and he wasn't even there to becoming that which he ran from his entire life , killing his beloved and knowing she's somewhere but not able to find her all the while searching for the traitors and at the same time he is slowly dying. He even had to watch her die twice.
Here's what i dont understand though, all the while yuanqi said those hurtful words he never implied that he would stop protecting ayin as his fellow junior sister but rather he wouldnt have any romantic entanglements with her and despite his words his actions towards her says something different so why does only his scathing words count and his tender actions doesnt ?
I get that yuan qi made a lot of mistakes and should be held responsible but reducing a true god of chaos to a servant is just beyond insulting but i have to say the guy is really humble and down to earth.

Yeah at this point that might as well have not happened and it seems like an irrelevant plot without much implications which is funny because that was the begining of all this fiasco.
All those questioning yuan qi about the peacock issue, i don't think he forgot at all but he's biding his time since he was already refining that cloud pearl that would reveal the past, i mean why alert the enemy when you can just catch them all up in one fell swoop when they least expect it. In fact even if he did decide to punish hua shu all she did was carry out his orders early and she could easily use her grief over lan feng as an excuse or say she was just too loyal and mistakenly overstepped and yuan qi wouldn't be able to punish her much so what's the use.
If yuan qi had actually tried to punish her just because of the early punishment on ayin all she would have got would be at best a slap on the back of the hand and that would have made them be on guard against him then he would have truly being a fool and a dabanda(idiot) and ayin's death would truly be in vain.
Let's not forget it's not just huashu but also her father and also that green snake feng min that all need to be brought to justice. Yuan qi by not punishing hua shu and instead refining that cloud pearl proves he has matured and he really learnt from his mistakes- I mean it takes a lot of patience and conviction to wait a thousand years with resentment and anger while knowing people plotted against your beloved.
Besides qing lin already told him she has a lot of moles in both demon and immortal realm so what better way than to get them all at once when they're unguarded and least expect it.
Yes we are all loving feng yin putting that damn peacock in her place but let's be honest i don't think anyone here would feel adequately satisfied if the only punishment she got was just humiliation and right now she has no sufficiently punishable crime at least not to those in the immortal realm so why bother with her for now, let her climb high enough so when she falls it'll be more spectacular and enjoyable and that way all my pent up annoyance and frustration will be released.
I don't know about you guys but i want her to fall to the 7th hell spectacularly and only then will there be satisfaction.

About that i think someone once posted that yuan qi sacrificed part of his spirit to resurrect the entire daze mountain heroes when's that going to happen cos previews of 31 still shows a destroyed daze mountain.
I have to say yuan qi is among the unluckiest characters ever cos every mistake he made was to compromise and prevent a bigger disaster from happening and every single time it fails and instead becomes double disaster.
