I am only watching because I love the cast. But the story is so...... Bad! Episode 4 just went downhill! The good things happened at the end of the episode, like getting the deal, the fl hugging ml, were all cringe worthy!

ML liked FL in highschool. But FL after highschool moved quickly to the US, she was exceptionally talented and earned scholarship to study abroad, and she was there until she came back in the first episode of the drama. There was no way ML could confess to FL. Plus it had been a long time, probably 14 years since highschool. ML now after 14 years doesn't think that he likes her the same way anymore (may be he still does but he doesn't believe so).

So true. If a daughter has always made her mother proud she would be sympathetic towards her daughter no matter how disappointed she feels. She would give her daughter the benefit of doubt, that there was a good reason for her to leave job and breakup with her fiance. I was so annoyed at the mother that I decided to speed up and skip some parts. I wish the overreacting will be lessened in the upcoming episodes.
The show couldn't even last 2 episodes before brute-forcing romance... The leads interacting as actual friends…
I feel like they are trying to make us believe things unnaturally, instead doing the show naturally. I got frustrated with the mother. When your daughter is this good, it's not hard to be sympathetic towards her when she is going through bad times. And a successful career girl will always find a better job. I got really annoyed whenever they were calling her unemployed. It was really annoying.

I think they did what you call "over". I got annoyed at the mother. When your daughter has always made you proud, it's not difficult to be sympathetic and nice to her. It was evident the mother was doing "over" acting. And it continued. Got frustrated and fast forwarded to finish episode 2.
Being a crazy fan of kimi ni todoke anime, I was very sceptic about it. It is not as good as I wanted it to be, but I actually enjoyed it for its own qualities. Didn't expect this "the Kazehaya" to be good, but he is!! So recommendable!
