The main couple has my whole heart, bless them omg 🥺💌
I have GOT to get to work, and I'm supposed to be What's Apping my parents in an hour and haven't even had a shower yet. But... I've already watched some scenes in Eps 29 and 30 THREE times. Send help :)
And now I really AM going or my dad will kill me if I'm late -- hahahahaha.
Her sister character was soooooo annoying in The Princess's Gambit. So nice to see her get a much better role…
Yep. Very likely.
She was also brilliant in The Longest Promise, but got SOOOOOO much abuse from Chinese viewers for her performance for a long time, a performance I thought was superb. I'm happy to see she's been in so many successful dramas since as she is incredibly talented, and obviously didn't let those as*holes tear her down -- just like her character in this, if the truth be known :)
Edit - ooh sorry, I went off talking about the FL instead of the sister. My mistake. 😀
I love that ever since they became a couple, our FL has never been stingy when it comes to initiating hugs and…
Ci Sha is so good with his expressions. Right from the first time he met her properly as she was dragged away from him and then looked back, and the look in his eyes was full of curiosity and affection at just how cute but also how bold she was :)
That whole first scene between the two of them, plus the lantern scene, sets up the drama so perfectly. A brilliant job by the main actors and the director, IMO.

Thank you but, oh I can be a real bitch - hahahaha - as my mother would tell you :), but honestly, I was always brought up with the morals that people treat you how you treat them, and it's worked out pretty well for me.
My almost-mother-in-law was a Southern belle from an incredibly wealthy family, one of the first families of Dallas, and my family is British from working class stock but now upper middle-class due to my parents' incredible hard work.
My mother-in-law never expected her son to find another rich girl, just someone he loved and who was good to him (as he was to me), and she was happy when he did :) I wish more parents were like her (and mine!)

Thank you and, well, horrible things happen to almost everyone. I have the world's best parents, amazing friends, and have been able to travel and live all over the world. I've always had good health and been pretty lucky in my career. So, if that's the bad thing that happened to me, a lot of people have lives that are much much worse :)
Well said — I completely agree. Took a short break from MDL, and even just skimming through the comments lately…
There are certain account I immediately block for one specific reason. Don't care what they say. I have no interest in having these brain-washed people in my life for any reason.
The rest are just people who, rather than having a debate, call you/me/other people names. Nah. Not in my timeline :)

Being an "IG influencer" has to be the most worthless "job" in existence. Anything ANY influencer says, whether I agree with them or not, I usually ignore.
Imagine going through life having a "job" that requires creating a reality of your own life that doesn't exist, and then having companies pay you to do so.
Lame beyond anything :)
And yep, none of them obviously stuck around -- that's the sad part of dramas nowadays though, as there are so many to choose from.
I read recently only 20% of Chinese viewers finish a drama, and that's if a drama is "a hit". If it's not, that number drops to 10%. And over 40% never get passed Episode 3. Over 50% have dropped it by Episode 5 (which makes no sense to me that some dramas are now going to be above 45 episodes -- WHO do these production companies think is going to watch all that? :)
I haven’t watched The Rise of Ning yet, but just based on gut feeling after watching a few clips, it does seem…
I've had The Rise of Ning on my backlist for eons but I can't get passed Zhang Wan Yi who has been Meh in everything I've seen him in. I've avoided Lost You Forever for the same reason.
I can't go on. I'm on episode 6 and maybe I'll come back someday, but the script is just so bad. I don't know…
It's one of the best-written scripts of the year. And it's especially good when you read the original novel and realize what a mess the screenwriter had to deal with in order to create something this good. (The novel is interesting in its own way, although markedly different from the drama in every respect, but it's nowhere near as tightly-written as this)

I had an almost-mother-in-law (my fiance died the day before the wedding, life sometimes sucks :), and I was so incredibly lucky as she was lovely to me from the minute I met her.
I have friends who are not so lucky. Like you said, even in today's society in MOST countries, I think, a toxic mother-in-law can be a real hardship to both the wife's life and the relationship.
My almost-mother-in-law had a saying "A son is a son until he gets a wife. A daughter is a daughter for her whole life", and so she was thrilled that, even though her son was getting married, she was gaining a daughter who got along with her :)

I know right. Hahahahaha. It's a shame as it does ultimately damage a website.
I block comments on mine, as I've been there in the past with another site I had and the ugliness that ensued ended up destroying anything fun about running the site. Especially as you end up wasting half your day deleting vile comments and banning people. I've noticed more and more sites are doing the same.
You should see my block list on X (I have 2 accounts - one for drama, one for anime/donghua). It's in the THOUSANDS and grows exponentially by the day. If X ever limits the # of people on a block list, I'm screwed with both accounts - hahahahaha.
I desperately need to get back to work :) but.... I am still flabbergasted by the absolute gall of Chen Xuan Qing who seems to think he has a right to her attention because she gave a few seconds to him about 100 years ago when she was 15 years old, then realized her mistake and quickly moved on.
I have a feeling though he will come to a bad end. After all, along with being a truly vile person, he's also now a murderer :)
Cannot wait to see CYY kick HIS ass as well :) Just hope the manservant doesn't get mixed up in it, as he's a decent guy.

I don't think it does. I've reported several people who have been really vile, including one who does nothing but post links to her malicious gossip-filled website and has never contributed to any discussion about any drama at all.
I initially dislike that OST. It sounded straight out of a 90s cdrama soundtrack… but the production team brainwashed…
Agreed. I love the OST. It's perfect for the period and, like you said, really fits those CYY and GJZ moments :)
The opening theme is lovely too.
BTW -- this is the album on YouTube Music (I don't listen to Spotify much as they recently changed their rules and now don't pay independent musicians if their songs don't reach at least 1,000 streams).

1,000 percent. And honestly, MDL needs to allow more blocks. I hit my 100 limit a LONG time ago, and am now being forced to remove people from my block list who have been "inactive" for a while so I can block some of the newer fools :)
And now I really AM going or my dad will kill me if I'm late -- hahahahaha.

Maybe you're watching a different drama? :)

All still here :) So I gave up.
