I know he grew his hair out for a role in an upcoming drama, and I think he still had it during the filming of MM. But I guess he cut it later, maybe for another role or just because he wanted a change. I totally agree-he looks super handsome with long hair, but honestly, every hairstyle suits him! Totally agree, the dub really doesn’t match his face or overall tone. I get that they probably wanted a ‘powerful, deep’ voice for this type of character, and Ao Rui Peng’s natural voice is lighter and wouldn’t fit that stereotype. But honestly, I love his real voice and would’ve preferred it over the dub any day. I especially loved his voice in The Blood of Youth (though I think he was probably dubbed there too, since his real voice is a bit different). That said, I think a lighter voice like in The Blood of Youth would’ve worked better for him here, but regardless, his performance is incredible. He really nailed it, and I’m so glad he’s finally getting the recognition he deserves—he’s such an amazing actor!

His performance in The Blood of Youth really stood out to me—he brought so much depth and charisma to his character. I feel like he’s a hidden gem who’s finally getting a chance to shine in a main role. I know it’s hard when you have a specific actor in mind, but I think it’s important not to bring other actors down just because they’re not your favorite.
