I don't see it this way though. Treated "like a woman" shouldn't have any bad meaning on it as a phrase itself. Being treated like a woman doesn't mean being forced or being abused. This phrase was used to show what people thought of gay men back in the 90s. XiaoFan's parents themselves called him a woman cause they got a hint he is a gay man who bottoms. But being a gay man doesn't mean being a woman. Back then the society was really confused and used terms and phrases that only harmed gay men.

I can't really tell which scenes are ai. I just had this feeling cause the series looks very good in terms of cinematography and visual storytelling. It turns out the just use ai as a tool to help them make some stuff easier for the production and more beautiful. I think thats a good way to use ai. I like it.

There are gonna happen some incidents, some mistakes and some ... not so happy first times. But everything ends up happening out of love someway. The series is based on a novel, so those who read the novel simultaneously or have already read it have a small advantage in understanding the characters. So, just to help you understand them more: LuQing's (the "top") family doesn't accept gay men and his mother had hurt his ex in the past. So LuQing has learnt to never show his emotions and never express love the way common people do. On the other hand, XiaoFan is just a poor village boy with no educational background that his own family "sold him" as a fake husband of LuQing's sister in order to get money from the rich family through their own son. XiaoFan can only cook soup and do housework. Thus that's his was of saying "i love you". As the story goes on, each of them changes slowly, and their love blooms into something they both truly desire. BONUS: Watch the actors' live streams. ALL of them. They are pretry honest and very kind souls. They share really deep stuff about themselves. They even cried during some of their lives while sharing their behind the scenes stories and other stuff. Guan Yue is the bottom (XiaoFan) and Yan Rui Hao is the top (Bei LuQing). Guan Yue is 6 years older than Rui Hao. He was an idol in the same boy group as Xixi (sammy's children's day) and Jia Yi (Lost to you). Both his parents are deaf mute and so he speaks to them using sign language.
