I read upto chapter 65(latest translation), I like both ML and FL characters and their dynamic a lot.
ML is already strong in martial art, have very strong will, capable and quick learner, his only insecurity toward FL upto now is his humble origin(as it should be).
FL is a royal princess, very calm and composed in nature,hides all her emotion very well meanwhile ML character is straight forward protective,possessive, jealous and passionate (ruthless)😜
FL always wants to push away ML for his safety meanwhile ML thinks FL pushes him becuz his lack of power and background.( typical misunderstanding 🤧)
And their romance is very slow burn and the novel is more on action, fighting , schemes and politics, one incident to another incident along their journey. (like old school Wuxia novel, sometimes boring to a point that's why they said it's average)
So ML and FL casting should be artists who have good in subtle mannerisms and strong eyes expression of emotion like one glance of them should be enough to burn the whole screen level chemistry is required😛.
Second,FL should be not too different from novel character. I mean sometimes we don't need much explanation why the men are willing to do everything for FL by watching FL beauty, mannerisms and demeanor.
I hope they don't change FL character much to fit the casting that will make ML character completely unreasonable😖.
Also ML character should be dominant, very handsome (more on wild, exotic, raw strength, different from all the men in yr life in palace 😭) like you forget who you are when you are with him. (becuz our FL suffered dat tension from Day 1🤧😂).
As for SML character,he is beyond toxic, like a lunatic who is far away from redemption ( killed his former love interest's husband, her 3yrs old son and made SFL and her second infant daughter captive and harassed her).
I don't think SML is a better character though he also has his own backstory and reasons to become like this.
The most importantly,SML's cruelty and madness is the origin of all that driven the whole novel.
If they tone down and make pity to make SML character hot, the drama adaptation will become complete disaster.(100% sure😂)
(Yes, we have two PTSD dramas that fit all of the above which ruined the novel characters' for d@mn sake, one is MJTY ,one is the chronicle of nutsack 🤧🤣🤣)
In this case,hope the scriptwriter is good and the production team is sincere 😐🙏.
Plus the drama plot should be fast pace with good transition, the director should be someone who is good at martial art scenes and can capture the natural emotion of ML and FL without using slow motion effects🤧.
The rumor said the director's previous works are short dramas ,so I have very optimistic to have good fast pace, dramatic Wuxia drama unlike the drama that plagued with slomo shots🤗.
