Since the casting for this project couldn't make a fuss,some ppl used all of their energy to criticize the production design of this project.
These opinions are not limited to WB becuz we can see some of above, right here on this forum.
The expression of opinions during early stage of filming is common esp in social media era, so no need to bash the individual person or fds for doing that.
Fans have their expectations and will do their best and also some ppl will do their best.(some ppl refers to sour, bitter, spicy haters of all kinds from all directions)
The real thing is the repeated injection of the opinions on everything everywhere, whether it is from overwhelming fans or some ppl,that is somehow unbearable to ignore.
The reason of some ppl is always simple ,to drive away fans and potential viewers from the project.
I think everyone knows why some ppl are so excited for this project more than artists' fans and drama fans.
For me, As a ML fan, Overdo is a project I'm highly anticipated. As a character CP fan, their Collab is highly anticipated. As a drama fan, sucker for this genre, highly anticipated.
Some breakdown for the wind around Overdo ( all are my own take)
Overdo is - Republican era theme but not Biopic - Sadomasochism (classic dramatic plotline) -for 2026 -for who love idol folk dramas ,also familiar with uprising (actually full- circle) short films and miniseries. - for who love vibrant aesthetic and vibe

With this logic, you can say Romeo and Juliet is Shakespeare's acid trip, Wuthering Heights is Emily Bronte's fever dream,The Count of Monte Cristo is Dumas' nonsense.
If you don't enjoy this ''genre'', just move on. Repeated saying of this is making you a 🤡 who is Too idle to know the classic literature and Literary Activism.
*Overdo just give me those miniseries vibe but with bigger budget
With this logic, you can say Disney is a joke, Tropfest is a trash , every major award given titles to short films are making nonsense. 2 second 20 frames of Roundhay Garden Scene in 1888 ,evoluted to Today VR era. No need to dishonour the whole short film industry in a sarcastic way,just to discredit the production design of this drama. Repeated saying of this is making you a 🤡 who is Too idle to know the evolution of art and film. The essence of art is presentation of thoughts and emotions across the time and breakdown the dimensions. Not rely on the project is big or small, short or long, cheap or expensive, famous or not.
*Costumes and set design
This totally depends on Team budget. So ,not too much to say, if they are accurate in major historical accuracy.e.g. honorable medals and certain stuff etc.
*Character design(hairstyle, make-up, costume) Here as a ML fan, I will only emphasize the MRQY character design.
MRQY is a child abused survivor, black sheep of the family, PTSD, emotional emptiness, man on the verge of madness. He has everything, beauty,education, wealth,power except self-love and self-care. From this POV, I always expect MRQY character design would be messy, unconventional, Heathcliff aesthetic.
I understand why fans are overwhelmed for MRQY not having neat, clean, Hallmark aesthetic of that era.
However, repeated saying of this ,just to step on the ML and the project, is making you a 🤡 who is Too idle to understand why Jame Cameron used that so called 90s haircut for Jack Dawson in 1910s Titanic.
After all, since Overdo is neither Biopic nor strictly follow the novel, I expected the team will use some creative freedom for character design.
I think the team will adjust some opinions, but imo, the team wouldn't change their concept for character design just for the sake of some overwhelmed fans and some ppl froggy salty voice.
*For overall vibe of the drama, pls don't forget Tale of Nine Tailed series.Vibrant aesthetic and vibe plus creative freedom ,then it worked.
So, all I want to say is, whether if you're a fan or some ppl, pls don't too much overdo in love or hate. If you love, just relax and enjoy. If you hate, leave other ppl alone and move on.
