They haven't told what happened yet. I just have an overactive imagination. I THINK what happened was someone hid all his meds, walked in to find him dying and instead of calling for help, just left him there to die. There's treachery afoot!

I'm going to give this at least three episodes before I decide if I should continue or drop it. I am not a fan of the cast change even though I understand why it had to happen. So, I'm going to reserve judgment and give the new guys a chance. It isn't their fault so, yeah - I'm going to be open minded.
