Yeah, I miss hand-to-hand combat in wuxia. Very rare to see it in wuxia these days. Not only that, the anime style where they yell their attack names while fighting. I just can't get into it. I guess just not my cup of tea 😁 But Ancient Detective (2020) was really good. I liked it a lot. It had the right vibe as old school wuxia. Too bad, they didn't make S2. .

As for SToTD, I'm neutral towards the leads but the overall production is really good. Solid storyline and well fleshed out characters. And they picked actors who seriously can act such as the musical actor. I didn't know that he did musical, but I knew he was recommended by fans. SToTD team really listen to audience. I think it's good for them.

I'm not watching Dashing Youth right now. Just Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty II. I watchedThe Blood of Youth up to episode 30 and dropped it. I watched until episode 10, then dropped it, picked it up till ep. 20, and dropped it. The last, I managed to watch untill ep. 30 and dropped it again. I think it's just a matter of taste. It's too animesque for me. I prefer old school wuxia 😁

In SToTD 1, first case, they had one character showing more cleavage. I guess this is not the first time 😁

I like it when they add these small details to flesh out characters. It shows they really cared about what they were making.

I decided to drop The Legend of Heroes. It's a pity cos I liked the look and the style but not the narration. Now watching SToTD 2.

I only watched two wuxia by Wen Ruian. The Four and Heroes (2022). I never read the books. But I think JY is much better than WR in terms of world building and creating solid, flesh and blood characters. I had difficulty completing Heroes 2022 and I still don't know what the story was about 🤔

I liked The Four 2008. If they'd had more budget, it would have been great. The Four 2015 produced in mainland was terrible.

The romance is just an extra. That's why there's no FL. And romantic scenes are very minimum. So if anyone doesn't like PXJ, they can skip her scenes especially in the early episodes. In later episodes, her role is more important than just LLF's love interest. She helps the squad in solving cases.

There's no FL. This is a drama led by 2 males. There's only 2 ML. The female characters are supporting characters. Those who mentioned "FL" obviously didn't read the cast & credit section. It's clearly said "support role" so there's no FL.

I believe it's the actor who plays the painter Qin Xiao Bai.

I don't get MDL rating. Why are people rating a drama that has just started? Are they even watching it?

The choreography is not the best, yes. But I seldom see hand-to-hand combat in recent wuxia dramas so I don't complain about this.
