They're in school through the whole thing. I respect your opinion but clearly we watched the show with entirely different eyes and mindset.

Clearly you don't understand the show then. There's no one being the sole reason of why stuff is fucked, they're all kids who makes mistakes and by the end of it all, learn from said mistakes.

Did you watch the whole show? Also the show covers like 2 years, of their adolescent years where they're all trying to figure stuff out. This last episode literally brought everything together, tying all loose threads together and giving reasons to why each of them acted like they did.
