The Japanese are truly masters of Deathmatch/Battleroyale genre.AFAIK, they started with the live-action adaptation…
It's not about which is better. And about the value of the work for the genre. The squid game doesn't bring anything new to the genre, but rather uses everything that has been used long before. The Squid Gameis wildly copied and rewritten. This is why many people are irritated by the fact that people always compare all works in the survival game genre to a Squid Game. But the truth is that people simply don't know anything about the genre other than The Squid Game.
There's like 70 left I'm pretty sure. They aren't going to show everybody in 6 episodes
63 left. This is very little for a Battle Royale. I think the Battle Royale was only in the first season. From now on, there will most likely be duels. Otherwise, what else will they show for three seasons.
What I didn't like was the number of participants. Too few. More than half of the team was eliminated in the first bloodbath. And at the end of the first season there was ridiculously little left. Why do I say that it's, uh, "ridiculously little." The series is based on a novella consisting of 4 books. If there are so few characters left in the first book, what will the next three books be about? There are too few participants left for the Royal Battle.
And Squid Game is a blatant rip off of Kaiji, Battle Royal, Kami-sama no Iutori...
The squid game is essentially a hodgepodge of Japanese project. But because The Squid Game became famous, it brought a lot of tourists to the genre. Tourists behave ignorantly. They're not interested in the genre itself, but they think they know more than others (having only watched one series). Of course, people are different, and I enjoy meeting those who want to learn. But in reality, such people are in the minority.
But the truth is that people simply don't know anything about the genre other than The Squid Game.
