Oh, this is a bit of a meta game, but during the first game of the finale, big small, I know it is against the spirit of the game (as well as being totally terrible television I’m glad no one did it), but truly, what would have prevented either of them from just drawing their cards the entire time lol? It’s such a game breaking thing to do so I’m curious what would have happened.
Whelp. That was… interesting. After I watched season 1 I came and peeked at the reception of this season and saw it was very mixed so I held it off till now. And I think I can see why it was so mixed. In season 1, I felt like ORBIT was such a unique player and that the 4 player alliance was strong so it honestly felt very balanced to me (tho I see many people didn’t feel that way). It was also very fun for me to watch because of how ORBIT played (I’d never seen that on a competitive show and I don’t think I’ll ever see it again), and because it was evenly matched in my POV I didn’t know who would win till the end. It was the complete opposite this season. After a few episodes I felt I had an idea who would win and it took the entertainment value completely out of it for me. It was also worse seeing the people who got the short end of the stick the first game just get the perpetual end of the stick there after, and the one opportunity they get to switch things up - in the mancala game - was essentially meaningless. I don’t know how they weren’t so dejected, cuz I certainly was. I’ve seen some discourse on some of the players that I won’t really go into, but like many others I didn’t like Hyungyu haha. He was a very good player I don’t think anyone will deny that, but after a while he just wasn’t fun watching. But congrats to the winner. I think the games were still fun - tho I don’t remember the games from season 1 other than a poker round and the first main match - but I personally thought there were entirely too many card based/betting games this season I got tired of it.
Oh, I will say, the one upper hand this season had compared to season 1 for me was the cast. I think there were more strong individual players, it just sucks that since so many people got sent to prison with little way of escape they could do nothing and didn’t really have a chance to show those skills, the show just established a permanent underclass. The one player who managed to escape remained an outcast because the living space had already gotten so close. I’d have liked more chaos and upset and so I rooted for the players who did that the most (7highs play towards the end was chefs kiss). I’ll be here for s3 whenever it comes out. The shows concept is fun, and I’d like to see what new people they bring (and hopefully they do away with damning so many people off the jump). I still think they need to find a way so that piece disparity isn’t so glaring, I think that’s an issue I’ve had across both seasons
atp there was no need for the mother to die. the daughter who was so cold to everyone suddenly is very cutesy…
Going into this show, I definitely thought their approach would be more of a family first focus on healing their broken relationship with each other that was made necessary with the death of their mum/wife, and then their romantic arcs being more of a slow burn while they heal first (I certainly would have preferred it that way), but it seems the show has opted to have their romantic relationships be the primary/main arcs for them.
And so I’ve shifted my perspective to more align with what the show has presented. I think I can get somewhat on board with the daughter’s, but it’s harder for me to do with the dad. Unless I’m misreading his character, it seems he really truly cared for his wife, even if being her caretaker had an immense toll on him. I mean they were together for 37 years. That’s a long time to be with just one person. And he also seemed the most devastated of the family by her death. So I expected his grieving process to be even longer, and for him to take a while before opening himself up to someone again, especially having not dated in almost 4 decades. The scene where he broke down in the bathroom I thought would force him back into his shell and realize he’s not quite ready but it seems it did the opposite cuz right after he told the lady “let’s listen to your favorite song instead”.
I agree that the show doesn’t exactly tell us how long it’s been since the mum died; by my perspective it feels like a few weeks. It’s strange to me that these characters who have been stuck in a rut for who knows how long are now suddenly making almost big changes. Like if it was just one character maybe it’d be ok but it’s most of them, and it’s all changes in the same direction. I think that the show being just 12 episodes limits how much time the writers have to work with. Overall I’m trying to let go of how I would have liked this show to go and see what the show is presenting instead
wait zhou nian has a girlfriend? why was zhou nian in a blind date(?) last time (and then bumped into yan fei)?
If you mean the scene in episode 3, I was actually confused about it as well (because I didn’t catch that it was ZN initially 😅), but I went back and I think he was meeting with his girlfriend’s family
So am I the only one on Jiang Chen's side on this case 🤔 I mean I completely agree with his arguments 🤷…
The way I interpreted RJT, it seemed she was encouraging him to apologize more out of worry about the consequences of the Warm Nest case spiraling out of control and potentially jeopardizing his standing at the firm. She outlined the risks if things got worse.
And for worth it’s worth (not much 😅) I feel like the show is suggesting something between YF and ZN. They’ve had too many scenes together, including outside the solely professional context and especially with their mutual marriage issues, I think that could be going somewhere…
Every episode of this show has been so fun. Seeing the team come and work together this week, they feel like street level Avengers. The duo of Kang and Byeongnam is especially funny, and even the supporting cast like Kang’s wife is solid too. Just an overall great show to watch each week
SFL offering to pick up SML’s child on their third meeting, mind you an episode or two ago she was begging the ML to marry her like girl STAND UP (I love her). Our chaebol mains are both so gone it’s hilarious!
Dude what in the f*ck?? This was a random show I picked up because I was bored with another I was watching why are the action scenes so good?! Like the choreo is insane. Genuinely really fun to watch, the comedy is on point for me too. Looking forward to seeing more involvement with the rest of the characters.
While I get your point about the job of an actor to some level, I definitely don’t completely agree. That’s…
And now you’ve resorted to using insults, but somehow you’re not worked up. Sure. I already knew you were a pretty arrogant person from your response to my fairly nuanced addition to your initial comment. Well if that’s what you need to stroke your clearly fragile ego go for it, happy to help as well
Are we still crying over the whole “main lead vs. second lead” nonsense? An actor’s job is to act — to…
While I get your point about the job of an actor to some level, I definitely don’t completely agree. That’s like saying a teacher’s job is to teach and they should just take any job that allows them to do that as if there aren’t different levels and qualifications. That been said, acting is indeed a different (and more fickle) industry, and I don’t think Lomon is at a point in his career to just reject a second lead role, nor would taking the role necessarily slow down his career, as second leads are still very important and often times outshine the lead.
Seems I’m in the minority that actually liked ORBIT and wanted him to win too (after Dongjoo got eliminated that is). The “top dogs” alliance were definitely fun to watch as well. I do agree that Dongjae got sent home too early and Yeonwoo stayed too long but it’s the nature of the game, winning off of skills is not the only aspect of it
Women superheroes, women cops, women lawyers, etc just isn't enough for you huh?
Me: *looks in sea of typical serial killer stories* “hmm, I kind of want something a little different maybe this ONE story could switch things up a bit, reverse stereotypical gender roles, make the lady the serial killer let’s see what they could do with it and how creative the writers can be” You: “REEEEEEE WHY ARE YOU DESPERATE FOR WOMAN TO DO MAN THINGS REEEEE” Silly nonsense. I’m done with this “conversation”. Frankly let it go on for too long, I shouldn’t have entertained your delusions in good faith. Have fun living in your bubble dude 👍

Still fails to explain what is wrong with FICTIONAL stories lol. Genuinely don’t know where you got “desperation” from, and like I said, a really stupid and nonsensical excuse to not want more diverse storytelling. Just say you don’t like it and go, that would have been more respectful than whatever this is.
