I think it was mentioned by the emperor that because of the Empress Dowagers' problems; he's sending ZhangPing out of the county to learn and grow more, to be safe. So he sends him out of the county, kind of like to protect him from all the drama.
Wow this has been the best bromance this year!! The plot, acting, scriptwriting, and cinematography were all so good!!!! Love Zhangping and LanJue duo, and everyone else; including the side characters, Mowen and Chen Chou.
Shulin was a good and interesting character, I wouldn't have guessed he was the villain. So sad his revenge blinded him and he became the villain until the very end. :(

The investigations from one point to another were done well, and easy to follow----not a bore.
