Title Nirvana in Fire Spoiler
I would also add that in regards to Prince Jing not recognizing Lin Shu. I think part of it is that he didn't…
Wow, never thought that I would get thorough reply.

I knew there were some hints, but I doubted General Meng could take the hints. :-)

The Emperor was afraid of Princess Nihuang's growing power and influence so he looked for a husband for her. Marrying her to powerless Prince Jing would decrease her power and influence.
And marriage alliance was common practice at that time.
But I'm glad that Prince Jing was not considered as a suitor because that would make this drama into cheesy k-drama love triangle.

I think there was romantic relationship between Xia Jiang - Hua Princess Xuanji and Prince Yu - Qin Banruo.
Perhaps there's more detail explanation about the relationship in the book. So unfortunate that I don't understand chinese so I can't read the book.

Title Nirvana in Fire Spoiler
Just finished watching Nirvana in Fire. Is is a Masterpiece.

But there are few things that keep bothering me about the drama :
- How could General Meng recognized Mei Chang Su as Lin Shu right away in spite of the fact that they have exchanged letters?
And how come it took a long time for Prince Jing to recognize Lin Shu? General Meng only joined the Chiyan Army for one year and he was a bit slow, on the other hand, Prince Jing was smart and grew up with Lin Shu.
- When the Emperor looking for suitor for Princess Ni Huang, why the Emperor or anyone never thought of Prince Jing as candidate? At that time, Prince Jing didn't have legitimate consort and didn't have important position like Prince Yu.
