Is this why female leads in Asian dramas are always so hideously dressed? Some grey-haired censorship misogynist thinks Peter Pan collars equal moral purity? Ai-friggin'-Goo.

Thanks for the link, Seiko-san. You're the best! In fact, you're so cool, you can have Miura Hamura every other weekend and on American holidays. The Japanese festivals are mine. :)

My husband wants to send me to ikemen rehab, but since he can't pronounce "Yokohama Ryusei" or "MatsuJun," the intervention is going nowhere. Ha. Thanks for the info, Psychosinner! And did you say this movie already got subbed? Where can I find it?

Omg, the ten-minute episode format, it's like you're mainlining really high-grade romance heroin. Or maybe someone trapped you in an ice cream parlor and you had to eat your way out. Either way, this micro-drama is awesome. You gotta check it out

Title Duelist
Yes, this whole movie is a big love story and quite unique I must say....For years I've been trying to find something…
The romance is pretty understated until the last four minutes, and then you get one of the most erotic scenes I can remember seeing in a film. You gotta see that final sword ballet.

Title Zettai Kareshi Spoiler
I was so hoping Zettai Kareshi would be the rom-com where the entire love love triangle walked into the sunset as a three-some, and if any screenwriter has the courage and the creativity to stage it, it's probably going to be a Japanese person some day. Sigh. Sure didn't happen here. This drama is beautiful, a must-watch, and completely relentless.

I had to drop this for now at ep 5. I love all the Male Leads...like honestly, I don't want this Second and Third…
But you gotta see Ryusei-san in the final episode. That boy is a work of art. The only time I've ever liked the color pink.

For god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten vampire, that whosoever believeth in Kuromiya-kun shall not perish, but be actually worthy of eternal life.

And there you have it. Leave it to the Japanese to turn a vampire flick into a christian allegory featuring a vampire instead of Jesus. So cool!!! There were times I wanted Yokohama Ryusei to come in and smoulder his way through script flaws and mid-episode doldrums, but Nakayama Yuma's portrayal of innocent longing is riveting in its own way. And perfect for someone who is actually playing, you know, the lamb of god, qui tollis pecatta mundi.

Koishite also turns the Japanese love of teamwork on its head, showing us that human cooperation can ironically lead to social tyranny, repression, or even death to vampires. Who's the scarier predator? The one that hunts solo, or the one that hunts in big survival packs called "society"?

Definitely try this drama. It will be good for your moral health.

Was the costume designer some middle-aged, woman-hating man prude? Usually it's the screenwriter who compromises the show, but no woman of any age, in any country, would be caught dead in Harumi's clothes. Seriously, the trouser-skirt in Episode 8 is just painful. Close your eyes until the camera swings back to Yokohama Ryusei, and it's definitely a show worth watching.
