The movie (director’s cut) has a 2 min extra in a scene and also 8 min extra at the final scene, basically adding 10 min extra than the mini series. As in the mini series the ending is a bit rushed, in the movie you understand it all perfectly. There’s nothing left in the movie that appeared in the series, so basically if you watch the movie, you’ll watch the best version of the story. And about your first question, yes, they end up together. Hope it helped now :)
