This is a character driven story and also slow burn. You might not enjoyed its bits and how the writing was so…
I'm glad you enjoyed the show and that it comforted you ^^

I was not being sarcastic. These were my genuine thoughts when I finished the show. I watched it while it was airing so my experience was probably different from yours.

I don't have any issues with slow burn or character driven stories. I like them too. But even with all of that I still feel like a big middle chunk of this show was filler that did not add or subtract from the overall story at all. It was just padding to fill the episode marks.

Since you feel so strongly about this I will consider re-watching the show. It might hold up differently when binge-watched vs airing-watched.

Title Angry Mom Spoiler
ANYONE KNOW THE ANSWER TO THE MAN WITH WHITE SHOES IN THE END?
In episode 16 [39:26] After getting his special pardon, they show Sang Tae's dad looking at a board just before meeting the man in the white shoes. The board reads something like "Chief of Personnel Staff, National Security Committee." which implies that's the man he's meeting.

It's also implied earlier in the drama that this white shoes guys is above all of them as someone that "makes kings". Remember when the Mom was talking to that guy dressed as a singer? And he said something about the dude above him that "makes kings". Yep :D

Okay, so, as much as I loved this show (up til the cliff hanger ending, that is) I am really getting annoyed with…
I KNOW RIGHT! I am so mad about this I'm almost about to protest and riot online.

"The story is about the mother who constantly attacks her daughter about the fact that she has no sense of the reality"

Gosh this synopsis is being too hard and unfair on the mum, when the reality is that the girl character is an actual entitled brat tbh. I'm excited to see how the story develops her character.

Casting him is a terrible choice? May I ask why you think so? Or did I misunderstand you?
Nominations and awards are not just based off of acting skills, they are based off of the actor's popularity, their agency's monetary power and fame, the marketability and profitability of the award show if they are present, etc. several other things. I am not trying to disregard nominees and award winners, I am just saying that just because someone was nominated or awarded "Best Actor" or whatever doesn't mean that I will enjoy their acting when I watch them. It just means that whoever was awarding the awards enjoyed them enough and thought they were good. And I can definitely disagree with them if I don't feel the same way.

To me it is clear that he could not pull off the roles that I have seen him in and I do not understand why others think he did and keep casting him. That is what I meant previously. Thus comments would not prove anything. I would actually have to see him in a role and enjoy it to prove myself wrong.

If he could not get me immersed into his character then obviously I would conclude that he did not pull off the character/role and I would disagree with those who think that he did. You cannot say that it is a clear cut fact that he pulled off the character when there are people who think he did and people who think he didn't. I do not know enough about him to dislike him as a person but as an actor I have not seen anything from him that has made me like him yet.

Drama ratings are also a different thing from actors being good. That is an overall rating for the show itself as a whole. There are a lot of terrible shows with good ratings and there are a lot of good shows with terrible ratings. Similarly there are bad shows with good actors and their are good shows with bad actors. All both in and outside of Dramaland.

But since you keep emphasizing Crowned Clown so much I will give that drama another shot because I am genuinely invested in the story but am struggling with the acting presented - again good story with some bad actors.

Everything I have said about him til now is with regard to my experience watching him so far. Me saying his acting is bad does not make it anymore of a fact than you saying his acting is good. It is an opinion. My opinion was not disregarding any of his "good obvious performance" because for me there was nothing like that there to begin with.

wow...I guess you haven't heard...he didn't win. A nomination is not the same as winning, and I don't understand how comparing him to Lee Byung Hun justifies your claim for his "good acting". It sounds like you're saying something like "Oh these two people went to the same college, so when they graduate they have the same level of skills and talent because the went to the same college."

Additionally your other sources or "references for his good acting" are all just comments with opinions from other people that I just don't agree with. How are opinions opposite from mine valid references for his acting skill? Are you saying that just because everyone else thinks he's good, it's suddenly fact that he's good at acting? I thought I was already clear in that I don't understand why everyone likes him because I really don't and have not been moved or immersed by any of his acting so far. Just because comment #3 was immersed doesn't mean I was/will be too. We're different people.

With all that being said I tried watching "The Crowned Clown" because I was genuinely excited for the story but starting it out his acting kept ruining it for me once again. Not going to lie, this guy picks good roles with great stories which are right up my alley. I just wish he would pull off the roles better because it really sucks to lose out on great stories because of his bad acting.

At least they didn't end up casting Chun Jung Myung (I heard he was chosen before YJG) that guy is too old for…
I doesn't need to be a pretty boy actor either, honestly just a good actor who can play they role convincingly would have been great. LITERALLY THE GUY THEY CAST FOR SECOND LEAD WOULD HAVE BEEN THE BETTER CHOICE FOR NAITO! Biggest casting disappointment this year. I'll still try to sit through the drama since I'm super nostalgic about the Zettai Kareshi manga and j-drama.

In my opinion, everything I have seen him act in, his terrible acting has removed all immersion and ruined every show for me. Not to mention, I don't think he's a good fit for the character of Tenjou Night at all!

I just don't understand why he keeps getting cast in to roles he clearly can't pull off. Is everyone just on a hype train with this guy? Because I haven't seen any talent so far, and have just been disappointed repeatedly.
