Goodness. The first 50 episodes of this are fairly meh, but after that, it cracktastic. Even if you know all the directions this show is finally going to go, how they get there are very entertaining.

Gong Yoo. That's all.

Reeealllly looking forward to this one. (Feels like it's been months since I looked forward to a Kdrama.) Although I'm not really sure I know what the show is about, the cast is beautiful, so I'll just look at them until I figure things out.

She'll have to work fast. She's only got 6 minute episodes.

Wut. That's more like an enormous chasm.

This one's a real nail-biter. Each episode is a little more tense than the one before it, so if you decide to binge all 16 episodes when it ends, you're going to need a few breaks.

Everything about this movie looks brilliant. The story. The acting. The sets. Everything. And I know that I can't watch it because even the trailer for it is too much for me.

It only has to do with the extent that costumers, hairstylists and makeup artists can make a character of one gender look believably like they're another gender. These professionals can do a lot, and more than they're permitted to do. Young women and men can quite believably look like they're any gender (including androgynous) but not if they're limited by government control,

Rooted in homophobia, they think they're warding off the encroachment of BL/GL thematic content in entertainment.

I think that a lot of that is Chinese censorship, which wants very clear lines between the genders--men to look like men (especially manly type men) and women to look like women.If a drama has a Mulan type character where she's fronting as male, she can't look like a male while she's doing it.

This is going to be quite a ride, I think.

Probably a really good idea not to get attached to any of the characters, because the way things are starting out, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole show ended with a 4-way shootout, where everyone ends up dead.

Once you have it firmly in mind that the ML is a rotten piece of work, you won't mind if he doesn't have a happy ending--and if the sisters let a man blow up their relationships with each other, they're going to get what's coming to them, too.

Loved his performance in Hyena (loved the drama, too). I'd love to watch him in something new.

Oh, that's just silly.

She should wear whatever the part calls for, unless the costume is unconvincing. If she looks like she's 35 and a flashback calls for the actor to wear a school uniform, that obviously fails--but not because she's an "ahjumma now".

That's what I was thinking, too. It's a win for older acting talent, too.

It must be more tiring and stressful, though, to work with a main lead who is still a bit of an amateur, though.

I should have said from the beginning what a great editorial this is--we're all a little more literate after reading and participating.

That's quite creative. Lovely. The Harry Potter universe, though, is so . . . British. Great Britain is almost another character in the novel.

That's true. But what if they did a Kdrama version of Pride and Prejudice set in the Goryeo era, rather than the more common Joseon?
