Probably the enhancted the wall so the smoke won't go out. Others perform alchemy of soul at the open area so can be seen by others mages.

Well Master Lee look like he is kind of cleaning the mess of soul-shifting and probably he is the key answer. He might found Naksu body earlier just don't know where the soul is.
