The opening falling flat is not actors fault they did very good, it's the director and editor who put all the heavy emotional scenes and somehow made them less impactful. But the drama picks up from ep3 and it's quite good to watch

No, it's really good. Though ep1,2 is a lot from ep3 the story goes smoothly and engaging. But PPL comparing it to pa with nostalgic lens and haters reviewing and rating with just 5 ep out resulted in bad rating.

No, a sequel, with many flashbacks
They recapped major events in ep 1,2 . And you can read summary of novel and pa in discussion post before you start rebirth. Don't get overwhelmed by 1,2 ep. Ep3 starts in present and drama proceeds smoothly after fast pacing and lot of recaps in first two ep.
