Idk about Mr chow but I don't think Mrs Chan confronted her spouse as her confronting him could have broken their marriage and let the affair known to others. This in turn could have been a damage to their reputation and family, 2 most important things in the society of that time. It wasn't loyalty that was stopping her from going with Mr Chow but the looks and gossips of other and the fear of her reputation being tarnished. As for the kid, we don't know and we never will.
