Let me give you a broader perspective on why I feel bothered by "critics" on 23.5: GL industry is very new, ofc nobody wants crappy series but isn't there a double standard for gl compared to bl. I'm saying majority of the bl fans support their favs like there's no tomorrow. Ofc there are critics for it but they're a minority (unless that particular bl is toxic af). But for gl it's 50:50. And we have to acknowledge that bl was targeted for straight women and it is just to boost the popularity of the actors. Also The industry is misogynistic, the investors are more likely to invest in men more than women and men can literally do the bare minimum and get all the fame. For women oriented shows the chances of having investors and becoming popular is lesser. The target audience is also kinda niche for gl too. Let's take GMMTV for example: till date 23.5 is officially the first gl series produced by the company. And it took way longer to air than expected. Now it started airing. Ofc many love it and many will hate. It's fine right... The recent bl that I've watched from gmm was last Twilight. For ep 1,2 it DID NOT get the same amount of hate as this. People are only disappointed during last 2 eps and how it ended. My objective was not to compare as I liked both of these series. Opinions about last Twilight is not required here. Now, why did I bring up gmm? Since it's a big company and we can understand well. Big bl companies (even channel 3) have just started investing in gl. Why? The popularity of Gap. Period. People were going batshit about it during its airing. Even some of the most popular BL series weren't on par with gap's fame. Thanks to the popularity and cliches and overall positive response, today we are here talking about the 4 Thai GL. (I'm not considering 'show me love' as it is more likely a fan service (I stan them tho)) Now, there are web series, many upcoming gl and also h'our channel which makes low pro cute gl to watch. I agree with the downsides and bad tropes that should be stopped. With blank, thanks to the criticism, the production team changed the nong's age to 20. That is awesome. 23.5 is a high school series. Do you want it to be like Riverdale? 😆 It's a cute series. If you don't enjoy please don't watch. This is literally my first time watching a fluffy wlw show that is so light hearted and funny. If you think this is an overdone trope, please recommend me all those other light hearted gl. Thank you very much. Conclusion: Treat bl and gl characters equally. Both are gay af. We are gay af. Lol.
