He tells her to go to their squash outing which turned into frisbee at the park. He willingly takes responsibility for her dental implant, takes her home and kissed her. These are all actions he took to be in her life. So when she bravely asked if he likes her he doesn't even answer her directly. He tells her that a lot of people like her and that they can take his place when he's not there. It's rude and he deserves that slap.

I dont think she's toxic or crazy. She just really really likes him. She keeps getting mix signals from him also. He tells her he doesn't want to let her go. He involves himself in her life again and kissed her. Of course she wants clarify on their status. Then he decides to go abroad to get treatment but instead protects her from backlash at work without telling her anything. He wants her but leaves her dangling. She gave in completely and asked him not to leave. For him to say that he'll find her again when he returns?! She has every reason to be disappointed and pissed.

WZ sneaks her out of the palace. They run into Pei and 2nd miss Dong and her doctor, painter friend. They have dinner together. JC and the 2nd Ms. Dong become friends. PY and WZ agree to get along for the time being. PY's mother had her maid slip poison into JC wine at the flower banquet. WZ switch her cup; later taunts PY about his ability to keep JC safe. PY confronts his mother and tells her he's not going to do what she wants. PY ask the emperor to grant him a marriage with JC and he did.
