I don't think Thannam said it. I was all in Tee's dream, so it might be him projecting the guilt of not being able to protect her from taking her own life.

I have a feeling Phana raped Tharnam, and she killed herself because of it. The dad found out after the autopsy, and blamed Tee, because they were dating.
