I love that so many actors from mini and short dramas are in this. It’s such a great opportunity for them to…
There are so many actors in the first four episodes. I can't keep track of the women in the Rong House, or the young men who. I assume, are marriage candidates.
Short as it is, I appreciate the backstory of Fei Ying Jun, the mysterious doctor. Still gives me the creeps whenever…
Emperor seemed to perk up in Season 3, but he is back to his old self in Strange Chronicles of Tang. I don't know if you could classify it as paranoia. It is reasonable for him to distrust all the people in the palace. Perhaps the maid has ambitions to be Concubine... or Consort. LOL
I love the combination of Tan Song Yun and Hou Ming Hao as the leads. The MDL cast list needs to be expanded. There are roughly fifty actors in the cast.
Chopping up two cases into twenty minutes' segments weakens the impetus of each case. If IQIYI conjoins the short episodes into the standard 45 minutes length, the two cases should flow seamlessly. I finished twelve episodes. It's like start and stop, and switch over to the next episode.
does the emperor love the maid idk it feels weird since she raised him their relationship is weird
They make an odd couple, but he is needy, and she seems to be the only person he has private conversations with. She acts suspicious. The scene where he discovered she was putting sleeping powder in his tea, or something to that effect, shows that she can poison him.
The drama finally ended. It should have concluded with a bang (the granary explosion), or a follow-up episode with Wei Jing restored to the throne, and Chang An at peace. It was not clear if Xiao Wu Yang died during the rescue. Wujin unfortunately had to live, to hand over the Tiemo assets to Chang An. He was annoying to watch, even if he had a pretty face.
How ironic that the Black Cloaked Man was Pan Feng Shan, but even he could not kill King Tiemo. The writer gets points for that plot twist. Xie Huai An had guts of steel to survive the stabbing, and walk to the granary, to blow it up with himself and King Tiemo. Xie Huai An got his flashbacks and song filler at the end.
BGM was obtrusive, diluting the dramatic effect of the scenes. The quality of the BGM was movie quality, just overdone. The songs were pretty. Final rating: 8
I have no sympathy for Old Man Long. He killed himself, after planning to kill his two loyal disciples. He even got song filler and flashback filler. Director wasted time on Long.
Isn't the face make supposed to come from a corpse? They would need a skilled cosmetologist or mortician who could manufacture a face mask of a living person. Xie Huia An didn't reach that stage.
